“Felix?” a familiar voice called out as Felix was leaving the airport. 

He turned, surprised. “Jack? What are the odds?”

It was indeed Jack, who rushed over in a few strides. He laughed and said, “I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. If we hadn’t known each other for years, I might’ve thought you had a twin brother.” 

Meeting Felix anywhere in Dragonia would have been one thing, but they were in Astoria. It was incredible. 

“What brings you here?” Felix asked. 

“Business! Ms. Kinsley’s company is doing well. She established preliminary cooperation agreements here earlier, so I’m just here to finalize things.” 

Felix looked around and teased, “Jack, you’re supposed to be a big–shot executive now. Don’t you look kind of modest here, traveling alone?” 

Jack threw an arm around Felix’s shoulders with a laugh. “I’m keeping it low–key, you know? Besides, though I hate Astoria, experiencing their unique cultural scene is easier when you’re flying solo.” 

The mention reminded Felix;“Hey, aren’t you supposed to be honeymooning with Nessa?” 

Jack sighed. “Don’t remind me. Had it all planned out, but Nessa said she was close to a breakthrough in her training. You martial artists are so high–maintenance.” 

Finding a friend in a foreign land felt special. Jack suggested grabbing drinks, and Felix agreed. After all, his mission to eliminate the Steele family required careful planning, not just impulse. 

“Those two over there are my Astorian contacts who came to pick me up. The meeting’s just a formality, so it’ll be 30 minutes tops. Then, we’ll get a private room at that restaurant.” 

Felix nodded. 

Jack waved, and the two Astorians hurried over to escort them to a car. Usually, international business meetings were formal affairs. But this Astorian company understood Dragonian’s preference for mixing business with dining, so they had arranged their meetup at a restaurant. Felix entered an adjacent private room with sliding doors and custom floor cushions. It was typical Astorian style, though the decor’s quality was hard to gauge. 

Just as he sat down, his phone rang. It was Luna. 

“Dr. Zeller, sorry to disturb you.” She was as polite as ever. 

“What can I help you with?” 

“I was wondering if you’re free any time in the next three days? A dear friend of mine has an
