“Just sit tight for a bit. I’ll be right back,” Felix said before quickly heading off. 

Yasmin was a Martial God with the strength to protect herself, so Felix felt comfortable leaving her there. He slipped into the restroom, and finding it empty, he donned the Shadow Mask, transforming into a blond, middle–aged man. 

The store’s unusual nature worked to his advantage–there were no surveillance cameras, making it the perfect setup for his plan. The room he needed to reach was on the second floor, heavily guarded by over a dozen men armed with pistols, their safeties off and ready to fire. 

Nonetheless, this was no challenge for Felix. He burst into the room, a wave of energy knocking out three of the men he had seen earlier stepping out of the SUVS. 

The only man still standing caught Felix by surprise. The man shouted as he attacked, “You’re dead!” 

Felix prepared to strike but suddenly froze, his brow furrowing as the seven Dragonspine fragments in his body began to resonate. It meant only one thing–this man had some kind of possessed soul–attacking abilities, which was highly unusual. 

The man’s expression turned from confidence to panic. “Who are you?! I’m’a Gray Acolyte of the Westerio Order! You’ll regret this!” 

Felix had no time for idle threats. He did not care who or what the Westerio Order was; his mission could not be delayed. After restraining the man and extracting the information he needed with silver needles, he opened the black case. 

Inside was what looked exactly like a Dragonspine fragment. However, as soon as Felix picked it up, he realized it was a fake–albeit incredibly convincing–though this aligned with the foreigner’s confession. 

Everything about it, from its unique energy signature to its design, mimicked the real thing perfectly. 

“Who could’ve made something like this?” Felix wondered, inspecting the fragment. 

It radiated the same aura as a real Dragonspine, enough to fool even someone like him, who carried seven authentic pieces. Yet, it was not the genuine article, which made it all the more bizarre. 

After eliminating everyone in the room, Felix set the place on fire to cover his tracks and left. He returned to find Yasmin just as alarms began blaring throughout the building. Staff members hurriedly ushered patrons out, many scrambling in various states of undress. 

“Ms. Qualls, I apologize for tonight. This wasn’t how I planned it,” Felix said as they left. 

Yasmin’s cheeks were still flushed, but she gave him a reassuring smile. “Dr. Zeller, don’t

about it. I know you didn’t mean for this to happen.”
