"I would, in a heartbeat, if you'd give me the chance!" Baldrick's eyes sparkled with joy, yet his face looked serious.

"Nancy, I met you first. I wanted to confess to you back in college. Thankfully, it's not too late. I promise I won't let you down."

"Really? But Cyrus had broken his promises. What makes you think you won't?" Nancy reached out again, grabbing Baldrick's wrist with a firm tug. "Do you think you're particularly passionate, Baldrick? If you were, you'd have confessed in college. But you weighed your options and loved yourself more."

"So, stop pretending. Maybe you do like me. After all, I'm not completely oblivious. But more than liking me, Baldrick, you love power more!"

With that, Nancy opened the car door and stepped out.

"Thank you for your feelings, Baldrick, but it just can't work between us. You'll find someone who truly matches your heart," Nancy said, looking back at Baldrick seated in the car. Then, without lingering, she walked away, intending to leave Sunhaven and Cyrus behind for good in a matter of days.
