"How can I leave? My three children are still with John, and look at the state I'm in. How can I possibly escape from him?" Ember burst into tears suddenly, her sobs echoing through the room.

Nancy narrowed her eyes dangerously. "Three children? What about your other child?"

Before Ember could respond, John swung the bedroom door open with a dramatic flair.

He shot a greedy grin at Nancy. "Oh, the other one's safe in the countryside. If Ember refuses to meet my demands, I'll do away with her, just like I did with the first one."

Nancy paused, her fingers twitching as she sensed something was amiss.

Ramona sprang to her feet. "In that case, there's nothing more to discuss."

With that, she grabbed Nancy's arm and headed for the door.

But before they could leave, the door burst open with a loud bang.

Seven or eight men dressed in black stormed in, and Sarah followed leisurely behind, her eyes blazing red as she glared at Nancy. "Nancy, where do you think you're going?!"

Nancy and Ramona's expressions darkened instantly, while Ember, still kneeling, cried even harder. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to poison you, but I couldn't bear the thought of my children dying..."

Nancy's heart quivered slightly. Just as she was about to speak, a wave of exhaustion washed over her, making her vision blur and her body weaken.

Even Ramona, whose face had turned visibly pale, struggled against the dizziness and stared coldly at Sarah.

"Sarah, let Nancy go, or someone will make sure you regret it."

Sarah's face twisted with anger as she rushed up to Ramona, raising her hand to slap her hard across the face. "You witch! It's me who won't let you go, not the other way around!"

Ramona's face contorted with pain, and just as she was about to retort, all her strength seemed to drain from her body.

With a thud, she collapsed to the floor.

"Ramona..." Nancy's heart raced with panic, and she instinctively reached out for Ramona.

For some reason, a bad feeling gnawed at him.

Finally, the elevator doors opened with a ding.

Michael glanced at Judson's darkened expression and was about to speak when Judson suddenly took off running.

Michael froze for a second, then realized something was wrong.

The room was ajar, and the carpet at the door was clearly trampled by many feet.

Something had gone terribly wrong.

Judson dashed inside, only to find Ember crouched on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.

Yvonne was by her side, trying to console her. "Mom, don't cry. You did what you had to do to save my brother..."
