The night outside deepened into an impenetrable darkness, unnoticed until the night had swallowed the whole world outside.
Cyrus stared at his dead phone, and his expression could curdle milk.
Nancy hadn't been in touch all day! It was as if his words had flown straight over her head. Or was she contemplating divorce?

With those words, he stormed out.
