Norton spoke first. “Mr. Carmichael, we just want to know how Citrine is doing. That’s all.”

Clifford chimed in, his voice anxious. “Please, sir. We’re both worried about her. We just want to know if she’s all right.”

The two of them looked at Raymond with pleading eyes, their tone humble, almost desperate, as if they wouldn’t leave without an answer.
