Chapter 242: I Can’t Forgive The Pain He Caused You
Sean P
POV
“Wait a minute, weren’t you severely injured and unconscious? How Were you suddenly able to come find me?
“Seems
like he thought he’d won you over, so he let me go.”
“How long was I unconscious?” she asked, changing the subject.
“What’s wrong?” I leaned closer, concerned by her immediate question
“I just want to know how long I’ve been away.” Her fingers twisted in the crisp hospital sheets.
“A day,” I assured her. “The doctors say your condition is stable–just dehydration and malnutrition. Nothing permanent.”
Angela nodded slowly, processing this information. Her eyes darted around the unfamiliar hospital room before returning to my
face.
“Why did you lose your memory?” I asked gently: “Do you remember what happened?”
Her brow furrowed with concentration. Im… not entirely sure, but when I woke up at Christopher’s villa, I had an Injury
Did you hit the hack of your head? My stomach tightened at the thought of her injured and alone.
“I think so.” She touched her temple reflexively
“Ive already arranged for a neurological specialist to examine you,” I told her, trying to keep my voice steady. “I need to make sure you’re completely alright.”
Angela’s gaze drifted to the window, a shadow crossing her face. “It remember correctly, I went to that island to make a deal with Christopher—my staying in exchange for your freedom”
The guilt I’d been carrying intensified. Everything she’d endured had been because of me.
“When did you regain consciousness?” she asked suddenly, her eyes sharpening as they studied my face. “Besides the abdominal wound, do you have other injuries?”
“Not long ago, I answered vaguely.
Angelas eyes narrowed with suspicion.

I couldn’t lie to her. “Yes.”

“Of course,” I replied smoothly. “I consulted with the doctors and only came after receiving their approval.”
Angela’s eyebrows rose. “Do you think I’ve lost my memory or my intelligence? Using such obvious lies to placate me? Is that : amusing to you?
“You re angry?” I asked, genuinely surprised by her sharp response.

“I’m sorry,” I added quickly. Tidn’t want to worry you. Have 1 disappointed you with my answer?”
Her expression softened slightly. “You should understand why I’m upset.”
“I do.” I reached for her hand, relieved when she didn’t pull away. “Inderstand completely. You’re angry because you re worried
about me.”
Angela’s fingers curled around mine, the simple touch making my hart race. For so long I’d feared I might never feel her touch
again.
I couldn’t resist any longer. I leaned toward her slowly, giving her time to withdraw if she wanted. When she didn’t, I pressed my lips against hers, gently at first, then with growing intensity as years of longing surged through me. My fingers traced the delicate curve of her check, drawing her closer.
There was a moment of hesitation before she responded, her lips softening beneath mine. The familiar scent of her skin–subtle but unmistakably Angela–filled my senses. I deepened the kiss, feeling her breath catch as our bodies remembered what her mind might have forgotten.
Our foreheads touched as we finally separated, bath slightly breathless. I gazed into her eyes, silently vowing never to lose her again.
The door swung open without warning. Thomas Smith stood in the doorway, laptop tucked under his arm, his usual professional demeanor momentarily disrupted by the scene before him.
Angela immediately pulled back, smoothing her hospital gown with nervous fingers.
“She’s experiencing memory problems,” I told Thomas without preamble. Please notify the doctor and ask what examinations and treatments are needed.”
Thomas’s eyes widened. “Memory problems? What… what does that mean?”
He turned to Angela. “Mrs. Wilson, do you remember who I am?”
“I recognize you now, she replied calmly, “but there are many things I can’t recall clearly.”
“I’ll find the doctor immediately,” Thomas said, already backing toward the door.
As soon as he left, I could see Angela’s mind working, piecing together fragments of information.
Thomas returned shortly, motioning for me from the doorway. I reluctantly rose from Angela’s bedside.
What is it?” I asked impatiently once we were in the corridor. “Why do we need to come so
so far?”
“Mr. Shaw, we should move farther away, or Mrs. Wilson might overhear us. Thomas glanced nervously toward the room.
“Mr. Shaw, you’ve been with Mrs. Wilson for quite some time,” he continued in a hushed tone. “It was understandable while she was unconscious, but now that she’s awake, shouldn’t you allow the doctor to properly treat your wound?”
“It go–later,” I said dismissively.
Thomas’s expression grew stem. Mr. Shaw, you’ve said that several times but haven’t gone. The doctor says if you don’t come soon, he’ll have to examine you here.”
I relented, not wanting to cause a scene that might upset Angela. When we returned to the rooms, her eyes immediately locked onto mine, scrutinizing.

“What were you two whispering about outside?” she asked. “Is there something you’re hiding from me?”
“Nothing important,” I assured her. “Just rest and focus on recoverin
“Is there a problem with your wound?” She wasn’t easily fooled.
“What are you thinking?” 1 deflected. “If I were truly in bad shape, could I sit here talking with you? Could I have brought you hack from the Mediterranean to New York?”
Angela fell silent for a moment, then changed the subject. “What happened with Christopher after I was taken away?”
Jealousy flared unexpectedly. “Why are you asking about him? Are ye worried?”
m not worried,” she said carefully. “I just want to understand how you plan to resolve the situation.”
“Even without your memories, you still don’t want him to face consequences, I observed, unable to keep the bitterness from my
voice.
“Angela,” I continued, taking her hand again, “I can overlook the injuries he inflicted on me, but I cannot–1 will not forgive the pain and suffering he caused you.”
