Chapter 281:I’ll Help Design Your Wedding Dress

Angela POV

After Christmas, life starts settling into something quieter. I head to the hospital for my followup a couple of days later.

The doctor checks my stitches, runs a quick scan, and nods.

You’re good to go,he says. No lingering issues. Just take it easy for a bit.

I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. It’s a relief to hear I’m okay, that the mess with Christina didn’t leave any permanent damage.

Speaking of Christina, Sean gets a call from his lawyer while we’re packing to leave Italy. She’s been sentencedthree months in jail for intentional assault. Sean’s face tightens when he tells me, his voice sharp.

Three months? That’s it? She could’ve killed you, Angie. It’s too damn light.I just shrug. Maybe. But I don’t care about revenge, Sean. She’s out of our lives, and we’re all safe. That’s enough for me

He grumbles but doesn’t push it. I can tell he’s still mad, but I’m ready to let it go.

The goodbye at the airport is harder than I expect. Jhon and Giulia walk us to the gate, and Dad pulls me into a long hug

You take care of yourself, Angie,he says, his voice rough. And those kids.

I nod, hugging him back.

Giulia’s next, squeezing me tight and ruffling Ethan’s hair. I’ll miss you guys, she says.

Victoria chimes in, smiling. You should come visit us in New York sometime, Giulia. We’d love to have you.

Deal.Giulia grins.

We wave until they’re out of sight, then board the planeme, Sean, the kids, Victoria, and Alexanderheaded back to New York.

Once we’re home, I text Sophie. I’ve been meaning to catch up with her, and there’s something big I need her help with.

We meet at a little coffee shop near my place, the kind with mismatched chairs and the smell of roasted beans in the air. She’s already there when I walk in, sipping a latte, her red hair tied back. slide into the seat across from her, and she looks up, grinning.

Hey, stranger, she says. You look good for someone who just got out of a hospital bed.

I laugh. Thanks. I’m all back to normal nowmemory and everything.

Her eyes widen. Wait, you remember? Everything?

Yeah,I say, nodding. And that’s part of why I wanted to see you. There’s something I need your help with.I take a deep breath, then hold up my left hand, showing her the ring. Sean proposed. We’re getting married, and I need you to help me pick a wedding dress.

Sophie lets out a screamloud enough that half the coffee shop turns to stare.

Chapter 281:I’ll Help Design Your Wedding Dress

Oh my God, Angela! Married To Sean? She grabs my hand, inspecting the ring. This is huge!

Then she pauses, her expression shifting. You know, when you had annesia, I almost told you the truththat you and Sean were already divorced. I was going to spill it, but you and the kids seemed so happy with him. I couldn’t bring myself to ruin it, so I kept quiet. I felt guilty about it for a while, like I was letting him lie to you. But now? You’ve got your memory back, and he’s proposed again. It’s perfectlike it was meant to be!

I blink, processing that. You were going to tell me?

Yeah, she says, nodding. But I’m glad I didn’t. Look at you nowengaged! I’m calling my designer friend right now. We’re doing this customI’ll help design it myself. She’s already pulling out her phone, but I put a hand on hers to stop her.

Wait,I say, my voice quieter. There’s more. I need to talk to you about something.I pull out my phone and open the Instagram note I wrote to myself all those months ago: Don’t make the same mistake again. I slide it across the table.

I wrote this before the amnesia. About Sean. And now I’m marrying him anyway. Am I doing the right thing, Sophie? I need your

take.

She reads it, her face softening. She sets the phone down and leans back, thinking. Okay, look, she starts. There’s stuff you don’t knowor maybe you forgot. When Christopher kidnapped you, Sean didn’t just sit around. He flew to Europe overnight to get you back. He was hurt bad worse than you ever knew. Passed out for days after. But he told me and Charles not to tell you. Didn’t want you feeling guilty or indebted, I guess.

I blink, caught off guard. He never said anything about that. I knew he got hurttwo cuts on his stomachbut no one told me he was out cold. I thought it was just surface wounds.

Yeah, because he’s an idiot sometimes, she says, rolling her eyes. But he was there, Angela. Risked everything. I’m not defending himI was all for you divorcing him back then. He hurt you, and I saw how bad it got. But holding that over him forever? I don’t know. It doesn’t seem fair to punish him for the rest of his life when he’s trying now. And honestly? You light up around him. I’ve seen it these past weeks. You’re happy with him in a way I haven’t seen in years.

I sit there, letting her words sink in. My dad said the same thing, admit. That I’m happier with him than I’ve been in a long time.

Sophie smiles. See? We’re not wrong. Look, it’s your call. But if you’re asking me? I think you’re doing the right thing. He’s not perfect, but he’s here. And you deserve to be happy.

Her words settle something in me, like a knot loosening. I nod, feeling lighter. Thanks, Soph. That means a lot.I take a sip of my coffee, then grin. Okay, enough about me. What’s going on with you and Charles? Spill it.

She groans, burying her face in her hands. Oh God, where do I start? He’s driving me nutsone minute he’s sweet, the next he’s a total ass.
