A knock sounded on the door causing us to step apart, I immediately missed his warmth and the marvellous feeling I got from being near him, but I pushed away the feeling as I swung open the door to allow Jacob and the warriors into the office.

As they all entered I walked behind my desk to where Devin had made himself comfortable on my chair, he looked content as he smirked at me and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes and smirk back. I heard the door shut as the last person entered I turned and looked around the room; Joey, Amanda, Peyton, Jackson, Michael and Zoe from the Blue Moon Pack and Julian, Ethan, Andrew and Owen from the Full Moon Pack, with Oliver, Christopher and Shane in tow. It didn’t surpass me that the only women in the room were my own pack members, that made me turn to Devin with a scowl which he replied with a sheepish grin when he realised why I had been looking at him in that way.

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen.” I greeted and received a series of “morning Alpha’s” in return, “Okay, so I bet you’re all wondering why I called you in here and I will tell you all about it in a moment, but first grab a seat and make yourself comfortable.” I motioned to the couch and chairs. While they all shuffled to find a seat I held my hand out to Devin and he stood up next to me before I drew in a deep breath and concentrated hard.

‘Shadow, may we please see their auras.’ I requested and I heard Devin inhale sharply as he squeezed my hand tighter. The light around each pack member began to appear. I looked at each one and studied the air around them; each held a different shade of blue which was a relief and pretty fascinating at the same time, but what intrigued me the most was how prominent and vivid the colour was. It was different from all the other times I had witnessed, even Jacob’s aura which I had seen countless times was different, also the lightheaded feeling I usually got made no appearance, but as I glanced at Devin beside me I could see his eyes losing focus as the light faded which was the tell-a-tale sign that he had experienced the lightheaded feeling that I seemed to have avoided this time, but that was probably due to him not being used to it. He plopped down onto the chair and a sigh left his lips when the feeling faded, I was relieved to see that it had only lasted a few seconds and so I looked back at the eleven pairs of eyes that had been staring at us curiously.

“As you all know we have been experiencing a serious rogue threat, in the past few years their numbers have multiplied exponentially and they have organised themselves. They have been working together to attack smaller packs and take the survivors hostage, there have also been a few lone kidnappings that have happened in and around pack land. We have recently come across some information that this revolution slash evolution has been brewing for the past twenty years and I regret to inform you that some of the biggest players in this rogue uprising aren’t even rogues themselves.” I started regretfully and they looked around as a slight murmur of protest sounded across the room.

“You’re saying that we have traitors among us?” Ethan asked and looked around him when everyone agreed. Before I could answer Devin spoke up,

“That is exactly what we are saying. I know that it may seem hard to believe, it was for us as well, but once you hear the full story it will all make sense. It’s important that not a word of what we say to you is spoken beyond this door.” They all nodded and Devin began explaining the events that led up to us all ending up there, no one interrupted him, but I could see the anger and disbelief in everyone’s eyes.

Somehow the reactions were all different when Devin completed his story, “No! This is all a load of bullshit, I have known Austin my whole life and he would never do that! Can’t you see that this is all revenge? She’s trying to turn us all against him to avenge how she was treated after her parent’s death!” Julian bellowed pointing at me and a series of growls were heard around the room, my fists were clenched and my eyes shut tight as I stopped myself from attacking him.

Devin let out a fierce growl and in seconds Julian was pinned to the wall, “You will never speak to my mate in that way ever again or you will be joining your buddy Austin in the hell that I have planned for him, she is your Luna and moreover an Alpha and you will treat her with respect, understood?” he nodded fearfully and Devin shoved him into the wall roughly before stepping back to speak again.

“In case you missed the memo Julian, Allison’s parents aren’t dead and if you know Austin so well, you must know Asher just as well. I dare you to deny that he was the only person strong enough to overthrow Austin.” Julian’s eyes widened at Devin’s words and his head bowed in submission to the truth, not even he could deny that what Devin had said made perfect sense. I looked around the room and noticed the same look of concentration in everyone but Jake’s eyes- he was familiar with Austin’s traitorous ways.
