Damian felt a sharp ping in his chest at her words knowing where she was going with this. His wolf was growling not liking how their mate would consider such a thing. Damian knew he would never let such a thing happen. He has grown very protective of Lena since he first laid eyes on her. Though he would most likely never admit that to anyone, but he was starting to grow tired of his denial. Maybe he could explain why he didn't want a mate, and then she would understand. Lena squared her shoulders before facing him so they could make eye contact for her next words. His whole world literary stop that moment when his little mate stared into his eyes showing no emotion. But he could see it in her eyes that it pained her to do what she was about to do. "I Lena Marie Evans of the sunrise pack-"
"I choose your words wisely little mate before you continue" Damian snapped cutting her off.
"Don't worry you heartless bastard. I thought about this all week" she hissed through her teeth. "I Lena Marie Ev-" then was cut off again, but this time by a pair of smooth lips that sent shock waves through her. When Damian pulled back Lena had her eyes closed. "You will not reject me" He states sternly holding her face in his hands. Lena snapped her eyes open once she came back to her senses. "Yes I will. I rathe-"
"Stop with this nonsense" He roared cutting her off. "Neither of us will reject the other and that's final. The moon goddess paired us together for a reason, like it or not" He told her trying to calm his nerves. "My wolf has grown very attach to you through the years. I never wanted you to learn that I was your mate. Not that I dislike you in any way, but believe it or not I'm trying to protect you. I can't have you destroying my wolf, because you're throwing some hissy fit over this mate bond" He admitted to her. Lena stood there angry, confused and hurt at what he just told her. She tried to hold back the tears that hid behind her eyes, but failed. Why was he doing this to her? She's never did anything wrong to him. Why did the moon goddess pair them together? Was she playing some cruel game? How is it protecting me by keeping me away? He doesn't make any sense, she thought as she stared up to him teary eyed. "Can I leave now" She asks softly. Damian didn't like seeing her cry, and that fact he was the one who caused her tears. His wolf was howling at the sight, and wanted to comfort her. He had to fight the urge not to wrap her into his arms, and wipe away all her tears.
"Not yet, we need to discuss the party" He replies not raising his voice. Lena felt too tired at this point to argue, and decided to take a seat on his couch. "Talk" She demands waving her hand in the air. Sighing, Damian takes a seat next to her.
"Alpha Pierce is having a party and inviting some packs in hope to find his mate. If he doesn't find one he will then choose one worthy of the Luna title" He explains.
"Hidden cameras. This has to be some kind of joke" she says looking everywhere, and he just chuckles.
"I promise this isn't a joke. My wolf made some valid points last week, and avoiding each other isn't working either. So maybe we could start over, and if it truly doesn't work then you can reject me" Damian tells her flat out, showing he was being serious. She couldn't help that her heart was fluttering in excitement from his honest words. She also thought if she could really trust him, and start over. He did say if it didn't work she could reject him. So what does she have to lose?
