Kevin waved her down. "It's nothing, Major Tanner. Just doing my job." He pointed at the guy beside him. "This is regiment commander Vernon Simpson from Diosna’s military district."

Another regiment commander? Serena was surprised. A regiment commander is already a high official, and two of them at once? And from different military districts too. Only a provincial military official can mobilize them. Serena asked, "Pardon me, but how did you know we were in danger? How did you manage to come in time?"
