Chapter 112
“Hendrix, Clark is my friend. I just don’t want you talking about him like that,” Noelle said.
She bit her lip and added, “He got hurt because of me tonight. I-‘
Hendrix laughed suddenly, his smile sending a shiver through Noelle.
“Noelle, have you forgotten the agreement we made?”
“I’ve told you. Clark and I are just friends. I-”
“If you’re just friends, why lie?” Hendrix’s voice grew colder, his gaze fixed on her.

Noelle was about to deny it, but Hendrix cut her off, “Last week, the night you were late, you were with him, right?”
Her words were caught in her throat, and Hendrix didn’t give her a chance to answer.
“If I’m not mistaken, you showered before going to Percy Gardens. What was it that made you need to shower?”
“We were just walking around the food festival!” she said quickly.
“So, you
you were with him,” he said, his smile returning.
Noelle’s throat tightened, and she was speechless.
Hendrix’s smile grew wider as he watched her reaction. He reached for the cigarette and lighter on the console, but his hand trembled as he tried to light it.
The cigarette hung between his teeth, but the lighter refused to spark no matter how hard he tried. Then, he realized it was the one Noelle had given him.
His gaze darkened. Without a word, he rolled down the window and tossed the cigarette and the lighter into the night. His movement was swift, decisive, and unhesitating
As the window rolled up, the air inside the car grew thick, suffocating.
“I really have nothing with him,” Noelle said softly, her head lowered. “I know our agreement, but I also have the right to make my own choices.”
She added, “We were just having a meal and talking. We didn’t cross any lines.”
However, her words hung in the air, unanswered.
After a long silence, Noelle hesitated before reaching for his hand, but Hendrix swatted it away before she could
touch him.
“Get out.” His words were simple, sharp, laced with disgust. It was as if he were looking at something he had completely lost interest in.
She knew that explaining more about her relationship with Clark would only make things worse, so she quietly turned to leave.
As she reached for the door handle, he stopped her. “I’ll have the team pull back from your adoptive mother’s side. You don’t need to go to Percy Gardens anymore.”
His tone was calm, but the words hit like a sudden blow.
