Chapter 133 

Seeing how Noelle wouldn’t believe her, Jennifer paused for a moment before saying, “Why not think about it from a different perspective?” 

“What do you mean?” 

“For example, what if all of this was actually arranged by Mr. Freeman, and I was just the one carrying it out?” 

Jennifer’s words made Noelle pause in surprise, but she quickly dismissed the idea. 

“Impossible,” said Noelle. 

Jennifer replied, “Why is it impossible? Do you still doubt Mr. Freeman’s efforts for you? And think about it. What kind of man is he? 

“If he were just looking for a woman, why would he go to all this trouble with you? To be honest, I even thought about throwing myself at him back then.” 

She had said it with such frankness that Noelle couldn’t tell if she was joking or serious. 

“But I do have some self–awareness,” Jennifer added, candidly recounting what had happened that evening. She continued, “From the moment he looked at me, I knew he wasn’t interested. A man like him, someone who rejects so decisively and directly, either isn’t interested in women at all or his heart already belongs to someone. “And judging by how things went between you two last night, it’s obviously the latter.” 

As she spoke, Jennifer laughed again. 

Noelle awkwardly tugged at her collar. She wanted to say something, but in the end, nothing came out. 

Meanwhile, Jennifer called a waiter over and asked him to pack up lunch. 

“At this hour, Mr. Freeman probably hasn’t eaten yet. We’re already full, so why not drop off some lunch for him on the way? You know how he is. Once he starts working, he goes all day and night without stopping. How can his stomach handle it in the long run?” 

Noelle had previously heard Jennifer mention herself working in sales before changing her role to a secretary. 

She had always thought Jennifer was good at talking, but today, she truly witnessed what it meant by the art of communication. 

For instance, she couldn’t even remember how she had been coaxed by Jennifer into taking the packed lunch or how she ended up standing in front of the building 

When Noelle snapped out of her thoughts, she found herself there already. After hesitating for quite some time, she finally gathered the courage to step forward. 

Hendrix had already taken that first step, so perhaps it wasn’t all that impossible for her to walk the rest of the 

way. 

As if hearing Noelle’s inner voice, Hendrix appeared before she could enter the building. He was walking out with his team. He seemed very busy, walking while speaking rapidly to the person beside him. His expression was stern, and his tone brisk. 

With the lunchbox in hand, she debated whether it was a bad time to approach when another voice suddenly rang out, “Hendrix!” 

The voice was crisp and loud.
