Hendrix could hardly believe it when he first heard Dan say that Noelle had been arrested. In fact, he even thought it was absurd. 

In his memory, Noelle had always been far more rational than most people. Moreover, the very idea of her being involved in a stabbing Incident seemed utterly ridiculous. 

But there was no denying it when he got into the car and read the detailed news article on his tablet. As soon as he saw the victim’s name, William Kaplan, he no longer felt the slightest bit surprised at Noelle’s surprise. 

The police had learned from the surveillance footage that it was William who had followed Noelle, and he was carrying another weapon that the authorities had found on the scene. 

Later, they discovered signs of strangulation on Noelle’s neck. When she turned herself in, both her clothes and hair were a mess. All the evidence pointed to her acting in self–defense. 

Even so, with William now unconscious from excessive blood loss, a part of the responsibility still rested on Noelle’s shoulder. 

This news also dredged up Noelle’s past with William. She had been trafficked to a remote mountain village and abused by William. He had even tried to rape her, while Cynthia had fallen into a persistent vegetative state in an effort to protect her. 

All of Noelle’s past seemed to spill out, revealing everything to the world in an instant. She became the focus of discussion in every corner of the online world. Hendrix read a few of the discussions on his phone before turning 

it off. 

At that moment, he received a call from Sandra. Without even thinking about it, he declined the call. But Sandra quickly called again. When she realized he had rejected the call again, she sent him a message. 

“I know the reason why William was injured, and I thought I should let you know.” 

Hendrix stared at the message for a while before finally calling her back. “Where are you?” 

Sandra hadn’t expected Hendrix to bring a lawyer with him She had specially booked a hotel room and had 

a camisole dress to welcome him. Upon noticing her attire, the lawyer immediately turned his gaze away in embarrassment. 

But Hendrix remained calm. “What do you know?”

Sandra clenched her fists for a moment, but then, she quickly put on a smile again. “I can tell you, Rix, but only you and no one else.” 

“This is my lawyer.” 

“I know, but right now, you’re the only person I want to see” 

The meaning behind Sandra’s words couldn’t be any clearer 

Hendrix stared at her for a moment before suddenly smiling. Then, he turned to the lawyer beside him. “Wait outside.” 

Naturally, the lawyer didn’t question Hendrix’s order. And, of course, he remembered to close the door behind him. 

Hendrix turned his attention back to Sandra. “Speak.”
