By the time Hendrix finished speaking, Noelle was stunned. 

Then, she chuckled. “Really? So, did you win?” 

Hendrix didn’t answer her, as if it was pointless. He left with his belongings, and he closed the door without any emotions as well. 

Noelle didn’t spare him another glance.” 

To be honest, she didn’t want to say what she said just now because it was meaningless. They had ended, so bringing up the past was really unnecessary. 

Just like a rotten fruit, it was best to just throw it away instead of cutting it layer by layer to find where the rotten part was. Should she wait until the very end when they found the rotten core to finally admit it? Well, it was wrong from the very beginning. 

Noelle had many questions in her mind. It was ever since Oliver told her about Amity Group and the fact that Beatrice had woken up. She had been thinking these past few days, and she almost confronted Hendrix when she saw him. Yet, she still managed to control herself. 

Until today…. 

But what surprised her was that they didn’t shout or scream at each other. They just faced each other off coldly. 

Indeed, a person could only be hurt so much, and the emotions they could direct toward others were equally limited 

Noelle’s gaze slowly landed on the cake again. Because she bad been poking around aimlessly earlier, the cake had turned into a mess, but she was still determined to take another bite. 

The sweetness suddenly became overwhelming, and as it reached her throat, a bitter aftertaste lingered. In the end, she threw the cake into the trash. She knew it all along–someone who never liked sweets could hardly buy at good cake. 

Meanwhile, Hendrix had returned to the hotel. The suitcase he brought back was thrown aside, and on the table, there was a bottle of liquor, most of which he had already drunk. 

In fact, he hadn’t eaten anything tonight, and the alcohol was now causing him some stomach pain. 

The pain was sharp and distinct. It hurt so badly that he could barely stand upright, so he instinctively placed a hand over his stomach, only to realize he had likely placed it in the wrong spot. 

He wasn’t actually hurting in his stomach. 

He didn’t understand how things had turned out this way. He had put in all his effort to make amends and fight for their relationship.

But now, he realized how wrong he had been. He had once thought about this situation, even carefully analyzed everything they had gone through together, including their daily interactions.
