Noelle sat there for a moment, watching Hendrix's retreating figure before finally returning to the hospital room.
Seline was by the bedside, mindlessly scrolling through muted videos on her phone. It was obvious her focus wasn't on it. As soon as she saw Noelle walk in, she immediately stood up. "You're back?"
Noelle nodded.
"What did you guys talk about? That bastard—"
"He said he didn't know about Rosie's illness," Noelle interrupted.
Seline choked on her words. "What… What do you mean?"
Noelle didn't respond.
But Seline shot up from her seat as if something had bitten her. "That's impossible! How could he not know? He told me him—"
Before she could finish, Noelle covered her mouth and glanced toward Rosie.
Realizing her mistake, Seline lowered her voice. "He told me himself that he knew! He even said it was your choice! He said he was going to find someone else to marry and have kids with."
Seline was in the middle of throwing one accusation after another when Noelle suddenly spoke, "Let it go."
She stared at her in shock.
"Whether he knew or not doesn't matter anymore. It is what it is now. Besides, he's already contacted medical experts from abroad. They'll be here tomorrow," Noelle said.
"And you agreed to this?"
"Yes."
"I don't care what his attitude is," Noelle cut her off. "The only thing I care about right now is Rosie. I'm willing to do anything for her."
Seline finally fell silent. It was only then she truly understood where Noelle was coming from—everything she did was for Rosie's sake. That was why she accepted Hendrix's help as if nothing had happened between them.
In fact, given Noelle's current mindset, Seline suspected that even if Hendrix made additional demands and as long as they were in Rosie's best interest, Noelle would agree without a second thought.
But very quickly, Seline shook her head again. "Well, I suppose it's fine. He's her father, after all. It's his responsibility to help. But what if he says he wants to meet Rosie? Would you allow it?"
"Yes."
"You would?"
"Why not?" Noelle reached out and gently stroked Rosie's cheek. "She's always been curious about what her father is like. If she ever gets the chance, I'd prefer for her to have a whole childhood."
