Hendrix had held back. After all, back then, he was the one who had been abandoned. For the one who was left behind, chasing after Noelle to ask why felt like admitting defeat.

So, since their reunion, Hendrix had never asked her this question. But now, he couldn't hold back any longer because he really wanted to know.

Noelle's actions back then had seemed contradictory to him. She said she didn't want to suffer with him, yet she refused to take anything that belonged to him.

At the time, he had given her so many things. Just taking one or two would have been enough to ensure her a comfortable life, but she had taken nothing.

So, the reason she gave was just an excuse to deceive him. Then, why did she really leave?

Hendrix stared at Noelle, desperate for an answer.

Noelle stood there, her eyes meeting his for a moment before she softly said, "Because I was pregnant at the time."

"What?"

"Had I not been pregnant then, I might have been able to stay with you. But I had a baby to think about, so I was unwilling to. I didn't want the baby to be dragged down by you."

Noelle gave him her answer. It wasn't some grand, dramatic reason, nor was it the kind of unavoidable hardship Hendrix had imagined.

The answer was just that simple. Yet, it felt like a sharp blade cutting straight into his heart.

Hendrix slowly loosened his grip on her hand. Then, he let out a soft laugh. "Is that all?"

"Yes." Noelle lowered her gaze. "So, Hendrix, you have no idea how important Rosie is to me. For her, I can give up everything."

"I can see that," Hendrix said, his tone mocking. "That's why you could leave me and divorce me without hesitation back then, and now, you're willing to sleep with me for a consent form, right?"

Rosie was his own flesh and blood, after all.

"Hendrix, have you lost your mind?" Noelle's expression changed. In the end, that was all she could say.

Her voice was tight, and her eyes were filled with disbelief. To be honest, even now, she still thought Hendrix was joking. After all, how could he possibly…

"I'm perfectly sane," Hendrix told her.

Noelle gritted her teeth. "Then, why?"

"Because I hate her," Hendrix replied. "I hate that she's monopolizing your unique affection. I hate that if it weren't for her, you would never have left me. Is that so hard to understand?"

"She's your child!" Noelle finally couldn't hold back her emotions. "And don't you forget! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have gotten pregnant in the first place! You once said you'd try to be a good father, but is this what you call being a good father?"
