Chapter 541 novel The Sway and Slide of Love
Noelle felt as though she were some kind of object, being fought over and placed wherever others pleased. After a brief pause, she walked straight up to Hendrix and reached for her suitcase.
Hendrix noticed what she was doing and took this as her giving him an answer. He tensed up instantly and gripped the suitcase tighter.
Noelle naturally felt the increased pressure from his hold, and she couldn't help but frown. Then, she looked at him and said, "Let go."
Hendrix pressed his lips into a thin line, and the veins in his forearm started to bulge from how much force he was exerting.
He stared at Noelle in disbelief. So, between him and Dylan, she had actually chosen the latter?
Beatrice also witnessed what was happening. She immediately furrowed her brows as she stepped forward. "Noelle, why don't you just let—"
"Hendrix Freeman, I said let go!" Noelle didn't even wait for Beatrice to finish her sentence. She kept her eyes locked on Hendrix and repeated herself firmly.
Hendrix met her gaze and suddenly remembered what Angela had told him the night before. She had said that Noelle was heartbroken beyond repair.
At first, Hendrix had thought Angela was trying to scare him. But now, seeing Noelle's expression, he suddenly realized Angela was right.
Thus, he slowly loosened his grip on the suitcase, and Noelle quickly pulled it toward her.
Seeing this, Dylan immediately stepped forward, about to reach for the suitcase, but Noelle turned to Rosie instead. "Let's go. Mommy's going to take you on the subway, okay?"
Rosie immediately nodded excitedly and said, "Okay!"
Noelle smiled, then turned to Beatrice and bid her goodbye before taking Rosie's hand and walking away.
Dylan quickly caught up to her. "You're taking the subway?"
"Yeah, it connects to the airport. It's actually quite convenient."
Suddenly, something seemed to cross Noelle's mind. She walked back to Dylan and handed him a box. "Here. Take this back. It's too expensive for a child to wear."
"It's fine. It's a gift for Rosie. As long as she—"
"I'm sorry, but she doesn't seem to like it. We do feel bad for letting the thought go to waste, though."
As soon as Noelle finished speaking, Dylan's hands slowly dropped to his sides.
She gave him a small smile. "We'll be going now. Goodbye."
With that, she got into the taxi without hesitation.
Dylan watched her leave, his hands clenched into fists so tight that even his knuckles and fingertips turned pale.
