"Is that a yes or a no?" Leah narrowed her eyes.

"He was here a couple of days ago, but he left last night."

"Is that so?" Leah responded indifferently, as if it didn't matter. "Just as well, because I have something to say to you."

Noelle didn't refuse. She simply stepped aside to let her in.

Dressed in a custom-tailored dress and leather shoes, Leah took one step inside and immediately frowned. She swept her gaze across the room, her dissatisfaction evident.

"Would you like something to drink?" Noelle asked.

Leah didn't answer. Instead, her gaze slowly settled on Rosie.

Despite her young age, Rosie had the sharp intuition that all children possessed. Thus, she could tell at a glance who was kind and who was not.

As Leah scrutinized her, Rosie instinctively shrank behind Noelle, peeking out with wary eyes.

Seeing this, the disdain in Leah's gaze deepened.

Noelle gently patted Rosie on the shoulder. "Rosie, be a good girl and wait for me in your room, okay?"

Rosie didn't respond. She simply shook her head.

Noelle smiled at her. "Don't worry. Go ahead."

Leah's words barely landed before Noelle let out a soft chuckle.

"Mrs. Pritchett, you're giving me too much credit. Dylan is your son, so you should know him better than I do. Plus, he's a grown man. He can make his own decisions about what he wants."

"By decision, do you mean him throwing away everything he has just to play house with you?" Leah asked through gritted teeth. "I just don't understand! What on earth does he see in a selfish woman like you?

"Do you know what's happening to his company right now? He's about to go bankrupt! I was against him going into business from the very start. He was his grandfather's pride, his greatest hope. And what did he do? He threw away his job at the university to chase after some entrepreneurial dream.

"Do you have any idea what these past two years have been like for him? Every single day, he's had to force a smile, play nice with people, and drink himself sick at night to the point of him coughing up blood! He built that company from the ground up, piece by piece!

"And now? He's throwing it all away for you. Do you really think that if the company collapses, he can just waltz back to the university like nothing ever happened? You're being naive! After all this, do you honestly think they'd take him back?"
