"Didn't I tell you not to walk around barefoot?" Hendrix asked with a frown.

"The floor has heating," Noelle replied.

"That's still not okay."

Noelle stared at him for a moment, then finally muttered, "Fine."

"What were you looking at just now?"

"What have you been busy with lately?"

They spoke at the same time, their voices overlapping.

Hendrix was momentarily stunned, then he chuckled softly.

Noelle, however, frowned at him. "What are you laughing at?"

Instead of answering her question, Hendrix countered with one of his own, "Do you really want to know?"

Noelle hesitated, then nodded.

"Good. Because there's something I want to tell you, too," Hendrix said. "But I haven't washed up yet, so can you wait a while longer?"

"Can't you tell me first?"

"No."

Hendrix had been so accommodating lately that Noelle had grown used to it. So, when he flat-out refused this time, she was momentarily caught off guard.

By then, Hendrix had already stood up and was heading toward the bathroom, giving Noelle no chance to argue further.

Noelle was stunned.

The smile on Hendrix's lips deepened. "I lied. There's nothing I wanted to tell you."

Noelle was completely speechless. She stared at him for a long time. When she confirmed that he had indeed tricked her, she clenched her teeth. Then, she grabbed the pillow next to her and threw it at him.

Hendrix caught the pillow easily, his smile widening. His wet bangs covered his forehead, and combined with his bright smile, he looked strikingly vivid—just like the young man he had been years ago.

But Noelle felt no nostalgia. She simply glared at him fiercely before lying back down and closing her eyes.

The next moment, however, Hendrix lay down beside her and wrapped his arms around her in a spooning position. He rested his chin on his shoulder as he chuckled softly. "Are you mad?"

Noelle didn't respond. She just turned around and tried to push him away. But Hendrix quickly grabbed her hand, his face suddenly close to hers. The ends of his hair brushed against her face, tickling her slightly.

Just as Noelle was about to slap him, Hendrix pinned her hand down and said, "Actually, there is something I need to tell you. But you'll need to brace yourself."
