Hendrix ignored Noelle's pointed gaze and simply took the thermometer from her.

"Hmm, you don't have a fever. It's probably just a mild cold."

Despite saying that, Hendrix immediately turned around to call the doctor.

Just then, a household staff came upstairs. "Mr. Freeman, there's a guest here to see you."

Hendrix frowned and asked, "Who is it?"

"I don't know her, but she said she's a friend of Mrs. Freeman, and her last name is Upton."

Hendrix turned to look at Noelle.

Noelle immediately remembered. "Ruth Upton?"

"Who's that?" Hendrix asked.

Noelle stared at him without answering. Her gaze made Hendrix's heart skip a beat. Then, he suddenly remembered—Ruth was Sandra's best friend.

Those people had long faded from their lives, and Hendrix never expected them to resurface in this way.

Hendrix quickly changed the subject. "What does she want with you?"

"I don't know."

"Then, don't see her," Hendrix said, making the decision for her.

He didn't want Noelle to recall the past and end up angry with him again. Thus, he immediately instructed the household staff to send Ruth away.

But moments later, the household staff returned with a troubled expression, saying Ruth refused to leave and insisted on seeing Noelle.

Compared to yesterday, Ruth's smile now seemed much more natural. "Sorry for dropping by so suddenly. I hope I'm not interrupting."

She sounded polite enough.

If it weren't for the fact that she was pregnant, Noelle wouldn't have come down to see her at all.

"Oh, I just wanted to see you." Ruth pointed at a lamp nearby. "Is that the antique lamp from last year's auction in Serencia? I heard it was bought by a mysterious bidder for nearly nine figures. So, the buyer was actually Mr. Freeman."

Noelle glanced at the lamp. If she remembered correctly, Rosie had almost knocked it over while playing hide-and-seek. Although she could tell the lamp was expensive, she hadn't realized it was worth that much.

"Seems like you didn't know," Ruth said, noticing Noelle's reaction. She then smiled and added, "Oh, I do really envy you for having such a good life. That said, I'm really happy for you, too.

"Hey, how about we take a photo together? It's been so long since we last met, and I even specially put on makeup today."
