As she spoke, Noelle began pounding her fists against Hendrix's chest. "It's all your fault! It's all your fault!"
Frustrated, she didn't hold back her punches at all. But for Hendrix, who worked out regularly, her blows were nothing. Once she had vented enough, he gently grabbed her wrists.
"Don't worry. Rosie didn't see anything."
"How do you know?"
"If she did, she wouldn't have gone to bed so quietly. Besides, didn't you see how she was acting earlier? By tomorrow, she won't remember a thing."
Hendrix tried to reassure her, but Noelle was still fuming and glaring at him with her teeth clenched.
However, he seemed completely oblivious to her anger and even asked, "Want to take a shower together?"
Noelle pushed him away. Instead of being upset, Hendrix simply chuckled and headed to the bathroom by himself.
By the time he finished showering and came out of the bathroom, Noelle had already changed into her pajamas and was sitting on the bed.
"Take a look at this."
Seeing him come out, Noelle didn't waste any time and handed him a document.
Hendrix didn't take it. "What is it?"
"It's about the project that Ruth mentioned. Didn't you say you were going to collaborate with her husband? Well, this is the contract."
"Oh," Hendrix said, taking the document and signing it without hesitation. His movements were swift and decisive, and he didn't even glance at the contents of the contract.
Noelle was stunned. Then, she frowned and asked, "Aren't you going to read it?"
"Read what?"
Hendrix immediately went rigid, and his grip on her foot loosened at once. Seizing the opportunity, Noelle pulled away, dragging the blanket with her as she scooted to the far side of the bed.
Hendrix remained frozen for a moment before realizing he had been played. Slowly, he turned to look at her.
That look—Noelle knew it all too well. So, she quickly changed the subject. "Don't you want to know what my plan is?"
"What plan?" Hendrix stood up, casually drying his hair with a towel before tossing it aside.
"The one about Ruth."
"Do whatever you want. If things go south, I'll handle it." He undid the belt of his robe.
"That's not the point. I'll tell you my plan anyway. Here. Let me show you—" Sensing danger, Noelle tried to get out of bed, but Hendrix quickly pulled her back.
"It's fine. You can explain it here," he said, pinning her waist and smiling. "Take your time. I'm all ears."
