Chapter 705 novel The Sway and Slide of Love
Beatrice shared a lot with Noelle that night.
When she first invited Noelle to have a drink, Noelle had assumed she was going to persuade her on Hendrix's behalf. But instead, Beatrice ended up telling her countless stories about Hendrix's childhood.
At one point, she even went to pick up an album of Hendrix's photos to show Noelle. It was clear that while part of Hendrix's personality had been shaped by the Freeman family's upbringing, another part was simply innate.
While other children's first birthday and kindergarten photos were full of lively, mischievous expressions, Hendrix's was always the same—serious and composed. The man he was now seemed like an exact, grown-up version of the boy in those pictures.
By the end of the night, Noelle had almost forgotten the original purpose of her conversation with Beatrice. The two of them spent hours flipping through the photo album and chatting about Hendrix. They even managed to finish two bottles of wine.
Although Noelle didn't experience a hangover when she woke up the next morning, her mind remained somewhat heavy. As she turned over, she even found herself clutching one of Hendrix's childhood photos in her hand.
In the picture, he was sitting in front of a piano and staring solemnly at the camera. Noelle stared at it for a few moments before setting it aside and getting out of bed.
It was quiet in the villa. When Noelle went downstairs, the household staff informed her that Beatrice had already taken Rosie to the equestrian club.
Noelle called Beatrice. But before she could say anything, Rosie's voice came through, excitedly telling her to come see her pony. It was only then that Noelle remembered she hadn't yet seen Rosie's new pony.
"Alright. Should I head over now?" she asked.
"I'll ask the driver to pick you up," Beatrice said. "The roads here are a bit tricky. Since it's your first time coming here, I'm worried you might get lost."
Noelle glanced at the time. "That works. I'll go change real quick. Do I need to bring anything?"
"Who said I was the driver?" Hendrix shot back.
Noelle had no response to that, but her expression remained cold.
After a pause, Hendrix said, "You've never been to the equestrian club, have you? I actually have a few horses there, but it's been a long time since I've visited. If you'd like, I can buy you one, too. Don't worry. If you don't know how to ride, I can teach you."
Noelle stayed silent.
Hendrix wasn't usually one to talk much, but now, he was racking his brain to keep the conversation going. "It's not that hard. I'll pick a gentle horse for you to start with, and you can see if you like it, okay? I've seen Rosie's pony before. It's nice but a bit too small for you. You—"
"Can you just be quiet?" Noelle cut him off abruptly.
