Chapter 28:
I laid down on the soft bed silently as Reese’s words echoed through my head. I couldn’t get a wink of sleep for my afternoon nap.
"I love you."
Did he really love me? His arms draped over my body pulling me closer to his warm chest. I was afraid of falling in love with him, of giving him my heart. What if I got hurt? Even though what led us to the entire rejection was my father, there was still a small part of me insecure and doubtful.
I got up and moved away as he shuffled slightly and slowly fell back to sleep. I walked to the kitchen, pouring a glass of water. I knocked on mom’s oak door as she said a sweet Faint ‘come in’, I walked in a smile on my face. She smiled happily towards me once we had locked eyes.
“How’s my baby girl doing?” she questioned.
“I’m fine mom.” she looked at me with furrowed eyebrows.
“What’s wrong? Come on, you can tell me.” she pushed, I let out a sigh, as u flopped down on the chair by her bedside.
“Mom, I’m afraid.” I said to her. She looked at me confused.
“Afraid of what honey? My strong brave girl isn’t afraid of anything, so hey afraid now?” She asked.
“Mom, Reese said he loved me, but... I’m scared. Scared of getting hurt, heartbroken if I let him in.” I explained. She shook her head as her small gentle smile to over her calm face.
“honey you’re not afraid of falling in love, you’re afraid of not being loved. You think he’s not genuine, sincere, so you’ve become extremely scared that what if he doesn’t love you the way you want to be loved.” she explained.
I kept quiet and still. I’m not afraid of not being loved, am I?
Daniel’s P.O.V:
I strolled down the streets as my mate’s scent faded. I couldn’t get my head around it. Why was my mate hiding from me?
I let out a frustrated groan as I walked into the town diner. Sat at my usual spot in the back as I ordered my usual coke and double patty burger. Tines two. What? A werewolf has got to eat right?
