Darryl's tone was calm as he spoke, but it left no room for retaliation.

Simone smirked as she lost her patience at Darryl's words.

"Alright. I'm not going to make this hard for you, Darryl Darby. Work with me and I'll give you a chance. If you don't, don't fault me for what happens to you!"

Simone then turned around to pick up a curious-looking box from the corner of the room.

Darryl's expression shifted at the sight of what was in the box as he flared up in shock and anger.

There were over ten small scorpions about the size of a thumbnail in the box. They were completely golden in color and looked like beautifully crafted works of art, but Darryl knew what they were.

The Goldnail Scorpions were not poisonous, but they were infamous in the wandering world. That was because they liked to sting one's acupoint's the most, and one sting from them would bring about unbearable pain.

Darryl would have never been able to guess that Simone would be capable of such evil, ruthless ways.

Darryl returned to his senses quickly enough and said coldly, "Hey, don't go too far, kid."

Simone put on a mocking expression as she replied, "I'm going too far? I just need your help to avenge my brother, but here you are, refusing to do this and that. How dare you say I'm the one going too far?! Are you telling me my brother deserved to die?"

As the words rang through the air, Simone picked up a Goldnail Scorpion and placed it on Darryl's shoulder.

In the blink of an eye, the Goldnail Scorpion wasted no time as it raised its tail, driving its stinger deep into the vein on Darryl's shoulder.

Darryl trembled as a piercing pain shot down his arm. The pain was practically soul-wrenching, and he gritted his teeth to remain silent.

The next second, Darryl said, "Please calm down, kid. You're not going to get what you want like this."

Simone's rage had not quelled as she shouted back. "Shut your mouth! You can save it on the pep talk. You've got no right telling me how I should be doing things! Answer my question! Are you going to bring me into the palace or not?"

Darryl flashed a pained smile, not responding.
