"Wanda, don't be angry,” came Theo's deep and magnetic voice.

He came to me. He tried to hold me in his arms and utter soft whispers in my ear.

If it were before, I would have forgiven him immediately.

It was different this time. This was a matter of principle. He was hiding something from me, and no matter how much I prodded him, he refused to disclose even a bit of the matter.

I suddenly felt rattled. I was terrified that something had really happened to him.

"What are you hiding from me?"

Theo paused, his brows lowering slightly. "I’m not hiding anything from you."
