I lowered my gaze and did not reply to Nibel immediately.

“The light’s green.”

At his reminder, I started the car once again.

I could see the faint upturned corners of Nibel’s mouth through the corners of my eyes.

“You worry that you might become a tool for me against President Grant, yes?” Nibel immediately gave voice to my thoughts.

He told me at the very beginning that he wanted to defeat Theo, yet it looked like he had changed his mind now all of a sudden. I suspected the sincerity of his partnership.

I did not respond, but Nibel obviously took my silence as acquiescence. His smile deepened. "My motive at present isn’t to fight against President Grant but to gain a place in Hatton with Golden-O. I have my ambitions, and this project is my best opportunity, so, of course, I have to grasp it with my own hands.”

What Nibel said made sense, and I failed to find an excuse to refute him.

"Can you guarantee that your decisions won’t bring harm to Grant Corporation’s interests?"

"Of course. Now that I’m in a partnership with Grant Corporation, I’ll also be dragged through the mud if anything were to happen to it too, no?” Nibel replied.

"Alright. Then we have no problems." Theo did not seem to mind all this at all.

I looked at him and hesitated. "Aren't you worried?"

"About what?"

"I keep thinking the steps that Nibel is taking to be very strange. We don’t have any clues as to what he’s planning yet. I’m afraid that—"

"Don't worry. I'm here." Theo gave me a look of reassurance and guaranteed, “Nothing is going to happen.”

I gradually stopped worrying and smiled. “Alright.”
