The Prime Star Global Investment Conference was being held at Paradise Restaurant. When Theo and I arrived, quite a few people were already there.

There was a very ostentatious display board on the door.

We entered with me wrapped around Theo’s arm. Leaning into his ear, I whispered, "I heard Prime Star has always been high-profile. I’ll be learning a lot from this today. Thanks.”

Not only the display board at the entrance, but the banners outside the building were also very ostentatious.

Hearing this, Theo just smiled before whispering back, "This is something that everyone in the industry knows. Prime Star is powerful, though, so there’s nothing wrong with them showing it.”

"I think you’re quite capable too, but aren't you being too low-key?" I asked with a smile while a gleam of light flashed through my eyes.

Theo heard what I said and casually grabbed a glass of red wine before handing it to me. He then grabbed another glass for himself. "If Madam wants me to show off, I can do it too."

"No need. I prefer you to achieve great things quietly. It makes you seem like an overnight celebrity.”

Theo and I looked at each other and smiled at that.

We clinked our glasses and indulged in the red wine in one go.

I did not expect my first glass tonight to be with Theo.

Social niceties were unavoidable in business receptions, and within the next few steps, someone had come up to greet Theo. "Long time no see, President Grant. Who is this beauty beside you?"

"My wife, Wanda Lane. She’s now a project head at Grant Corporation.”

He not only introduced my identity but also my name. That warmed my heart.

Smiling, I nodded at the person. "Hi, I'm Wanda Lane."

The man interrupted me before I could even finish, “I’m the general manager of Prime Star’s Investments. You may call me Walter, Miss Lane.”

He fished out a business card from his jacket pocket as he said this and stuffed it into my palm. He even gave my hand a deliberate rub. It made me feel uncomfortable.

I grabbed the business card and withdrew my hand. Glancing at the card, I muttered to myself, "Walter Waters. You really are the person in charge.”

To think that the person in charge of Prime Star was actually a womanizer. One could tell from this that there must be many unspoken rules in the past investment conferences.

Theo was not interested in them, so I was not required to show Mr. Waters any kindness.

Thinking of this, I replied indifferently, "Mr. Waters. I won’t be able to chat with you as I have something to attend to.”

I turned around and wanted to leave, but unexpectedly, Walter Waters obstructed my path. "Miss Lane, you’re being too disrespectful."
