Someone else also showed up today, someone I did not expect.
Cindy had brought Arthur over and I was stunned.
“Hello, I’m Arthur Doyle. We meet again.”
It was such a surprise.
I greeted back in a friendly manner. “Hello.”
“His shoot ended early today so I thought of bringing him over to relax. Help me look after him.” Cindy entrusted Arthur to me.
Since we had met only once, I was not too familiar with him. I felt a little awkward after Cindy left and could only engage in stunted conversation with him.
Fortunately, Shannon appeared.
“Wanda, so there you are. Who is this?”
I was still thinking about how to introduce Arthur when he introduced himself, "Hello, I’m Arthur.”
Shannon tilted her head and looked at him carefully, "You look a lot like the new guy who became popular recently. Arthur Doyle, was it?”
"It's me."
Her eyes widened at Arthur’s admission. "For real? Wanda, since when did you know celebrities?”
"It's not me. Cindy’s the one who brought him here. He’s an artist under Nectarine."
"So, that’s what it is. Hello, you can just call me Shannon. I'm a good friend of Wanda’s."
Shannon had always been an amicable person, even more so when it came to handsome guys. I did not have to feel so restrained with her around.
Arthur and Shannon chatted happily and I quietly made my escape.
When I reached the center area, I saw Marius who had just been coming in from outside.
Marius's side profile looked delicate and distinct under the blurring lights.
"Let's dance?"
I did not expect the invitation and wanted to decline. When I caught a glimpse of Marius's expectant eyes, however, my heart softened.
Just one dance.
I nodded and just then, the music suddenly switched to a soft and beautiful melody.
He slowly let go of my hand after the music ended. Marius looked at me and shoved his hand into his pants pocket. The faint smile he had on made me feel sorry for him.
“Sis, you have to be happy.”
I looked at his earnest smile and suddenly felt my eyes turn wet.
I nodded at him and fixed myself a light smile too. “You too.”
Marius turned around with a smile, his slender legs leading him out.
He looked like he had reconciled with himself and his figure as he left looked free and easy.
I could feel the single teardrop that fell from the corner of my eyes as it fell into my palm.
Theo had at some point appeared beside me. “He’s already let go. Won’t you as well?”
I looked at him and smiled. “I hope he can be happy.”
“He definitely will.”
Theo reached out and brought me to him for a warm hug.
