Finlay's breathing clearly grew heavier, his face flushed as red as a monkey's backside.

"Ana…" he murmured.

He leaned in closer, clearly wanting a kiss. Analise's scent lingered in the air around him, making him feel like he might pass out from happiness.

Analise leaned down, pretending to kiss him.

Finlay's eyelashes fluttered, his gaze fixed intently on her soft, red lips.

"Alright, that's enough teasing. You know today's not the day." Her kiss landed lightly on the corner of his lips before she stood up and went to the bathroom to change.

Finlay nodded pitifully, feeling the lingering warm flush on his body.

Even after Analise returned, now fully dressed, Finlay still didn't dare meet her eyes. That moment from earlier had branded itself into his mind like a permanent memory.

"It looks like night's falling again," Analise said, glancing at the softening light outside the window.

Finlay didn't answer. His gaze was still locked on her, completely entranced.

There was a knock on the door, followed by Scott entering the room.

When he caught sight of Finlay's crimson face and ears, his eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't comment. He knew all too well that, at the moment, his position in Analise's heart couldn't compare to Finlay's.

"I thought since you slept most of the day, you might be bored by now. So, I borrowed a set of chess pieces from a fellow therian to help you pass the time," Scott said as he set down the box in his hand.

"Finlay, would you like to join us?" he asked with a polite smile.

"Sure," Finlay replied. The invitation was a welcome distraction—his flushed cheeks and ears gradually cooled.

Meanwhile, out in interstellar space, Ophir was drifting with the soul of the transmigrator Sean.

"Damn you, Sean! If I weren't minimizing my energy loss in this form right now, I'd kill you myself this very instant!"
