Mervyn came closer to hug her. As he patted her back, he muttered, "I missed you so much, Candice."

"Why did you come back all of a sudden?"

"I got my PhD and received my certificate. The first thing I wanted to do was come back to see you because I missed you so much."

Candice slowly pushed him away. She smiled as she replied, "Stop joking around, let's go. I parked my car outside, I'll drive you home."

Mervyn dragged his suitcase with one hand and held Candice's hand with the other as they walked out. He asked, "How are your parents?"

"They're doing well," Candice replied as she gazed at their joined hands.

In the past, holding hands was common between them as they were childhood friends with a very good relationship, so such behaviors were normal.
