Chapter 211: Chapter 205. Reunion

There was still time until the opening conference was held, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves all around the association building; making new acquaintances, and meeting old friends--there was an unspoken understanding to not make any conflict on the first day, so it was even better. Refreshments were also provided in the waiting lounge, with hired civilians working as waiters and waitresses.

Some of the royals, high-ranking espers and members of the top guilds that had arrived occupied the second floor, sitting around the tables provided there while looking at the lower lounge to watch new people going in like watching art in a gallery. When someone who piqued their interest walked in, they’d fall into a discussion about that person’s past events and possible future.

Neatly dressed civilians would bring them drinks and hors d’oeuvres, taking their request for specific things. On this second floor, the committee did not skimp on services for their ’sponsors’.

One of the tables overlooking the entrance door was occupied by three people--two men and one woman, all espers. One of the men was in the middle of asking the waiter for a specific brand of light wine when the waiter in question suddenly looked as if he was in a trance.

"Hey, do you hear me?" the man asked with a frown, but the waiter was still out of it. In fact, a lot of people seemed to be out of it. They paused and looked in one direction; the hall entrance. "What--" the esper deepened his frown and turned around, only to click his tongue in annoyance.

"Ah, of course..." the other esper said with a chuckle, leaning forward against the railing so she could watch better.

The man clicked his tongue again, muttering under his breath. "That posh guild..."

The posh guild in question entered the hall with their guildmaster in front; a dark red hair and crimson eyes that never reflected his thought. A beautiful, known celebrity held his elbow, and more, other beautiful-looking people followed behind. From the way they walked, to the way they dressed in high-quality fabric made of dungeon materials, it was clear that they were made of money.

"I hate to say it, but they do look good," the esper lady smirked, staring keenly at the two pretty female guides she had never seen before.

Size-wise, they might not be the biggest. But if they were only talking about prowess, Trinity was top-tier. The only reason they weren’t considered one of the top five was just the number of espers, which only amounted to a little more than a hundred. But that was also why they could maintain high-quality esper with high-quality equipment--aside from having another source of income as a pseudo entertainment agency.

Besides, there was a limitation to getting members that looked as good as celebrities.

That being said, there was something jarring there, among the gathering of pretty faces. Not because there was someone who wasn’t pretty, but because there was someone who...well, they couldn’t see the person’s face, more like.

With a black mask and a black uniform, walking beside the famous Bassena Vaski, the man quickly garnered attention.

"Is that..."

"Yes, ’that’ guide," the lady esper smiled deeply while drumming on the table.

In a world where espers reigned supreme, it was hard to be well known if you weren’t one. Unless it was the Saint, or those who branched out to be a celebrity, people generally didn’t know nor care about guides. So the fact that this one could maintain his fame while being obscured from the masses was...something.

A lot of people thought the mysteriousness was a PR stunt from Trinity, who knew well how to handle their member’s publicity. It might also be due to the guide’s alleged relationship with Bassena Vaski. But they also couldn’t deny that the guide himself was interesting; from the sheet fact of the way he broke stereotypes of guides only being good for staying behind.

"What is his name again?" the man asked, forgetting his annoyance temporarily in the name of intrigue.

The one who answered, however, wasn’t the woman, but someone else who was also there from the start, but had been keeping his silence. "Luzein," the man said.

"Oh, Sir Arok," the man turned to look at the man, changing his tone and gesture to be more polite. After all, this younger man was one of the ’royals’. "Did you say his name is Luzein?"

"Yes," the prince of House Arok replied while staring keenly at the hidden face and the piercing blue eyes that were staring disinterestedly at his surrounding. "Luzein Ishtera."

"Doesn’t sound like he comes from Eastern Federation," the man commented.

"His family came from the North, and moved here about a century ago," said the prince as he recalled what the patriarch, his grandfather, told him before he came here; observe the new head of House Ishtera.

Well, he was told to observe--but his grandfather didn’t tell him how far he should go. Talking to the guide would also be considered ’observing’...right?

"Oh, as expected of House Arok; you already know the information others couldn’t get."

"Of course," the prince, Juno, said smugly while crossing his arms and watching the masked guide talking to Bassena Vaski. He found this quite annoying, to be honest. "Why is someone like him has to be a guide for someone like Bassena Vaski?"

"Oh, I heard it was the Serpent Lord that chased him persistently," the esper lady said with curled eyes, eyeing the couple with interest.

It was also interesting for her how the prince of House Arok looked disapprovingly at them. "Hmph--He should be mingling among the elites,"

The two espers raised their brows slightly. They had thought the prince was talking about Bassena Vaski, but it seemed like he was talking about the guide instead.

But...wasn’t Bassena Vaski, with all his accomplishments, ’elite’ enough?

Or was there something that made the guide even better than that?
