Since Wesley said that, Brian didn’t hold back. He immediately launched into everything that had just happened.

Wesley frowned as he listened. For a moment, he couldn’t figure out what exactly was going on with Jessica either. Finally, he said, “I’ll try talking to her tonight and see if I can get her to open up. She has been acting unusually today.”

“Thanks,” said Brian.

“No problem,” Wesley replied. Once he confirmed Brian had nothing else to say, he hung up. Just then, the red light turned green. He stepped on the gas and sped up, quickly catching up to the taxi ahead.

Up front, the taxi driver glanced in the rearview mirror and noticed the familiar Porsche trailing them again. With a hint of worry, he asked, “Miss, that car’s following us again. Are you sure you don’t want me to call the police?”

Sana, absorbed in her phone, looked irritated for a moment. She looked up and caught sight of the Porsche stubbornly trailing behind them. Grinding her teeth, she snapped, “No. Just ignore it.”

Hearing her answer, the driver didn’t say another word. However, Sana swore she saw a nosy sparkle light up in his eyes, and it left her utterly drained.

Sana thought in frustration, ‘How come I never noticed before that Wesley was this impossible to deal with?‘

She had already explained to him so many times that he felt nothing for her except a sense of responsibility, but he refused to believe it.

After work today, he even showed up with a carefully prepared pros and cons spreadsheet, earnestly analyzing his feelings in front of her. After a long,

serious breakdown, he confidently concluded that he really did like her.

She figured he probably just wanted a relationship, and since they had already stept together and her background happened to be a match for his, he simply decided she was the best option.

She thought, ‘But why on earth should I agree just because he picked me?‘

After they’d slept together, she realized she was no longer obsessed with him at all. She had absolutely no interest in a love that was so calculated and half–hearted, so she rejected him again.

Yet, Wesley acted as if he didn’t understand human language. He insisted on pestering her and even volunteered to drive her home.

Of course, Sana refused his offer. After finally shaking Wesley off, she quickly hailed a cab and left without looking back. When she refused to get in his car, Wesley just started tailing her taxi. That was why the driver got the wrong idea.

‘He’s driving me crazy!‘ Sana thought.

While Sana was stuck dealing with Wesley’s relentless pursuit in exasperation, over on the other side of town, Madeline had just gotten home after pulling off her scheme, only to be ambushed by her parents, who had been waiting for her.

“You little bitch! How dare you come back here?” The second the elevator doors opened, Peter’s furious roar thundered into the hallway.

Before Madeline could react, she was yanked out of the elevator by her arm and without any warning, Peter slapped her hard across her face.

Madeline instinctively clapped a hand over her stinging cheek, feeling the raw, swollen flesh beneath. As her gaze

Madeline curled up on the floor, trembling in pain but not daring to fight back. She bit down on her lip until it bled, silently enduring his beating.
