After a moment, Trent stammered an

apology.

“Honey, I was wrong, I shouldn’t

have cheated. I made Vanessa get an

abortion and sent her away. Please forgive

me!”

“I’ll give you anything you want, just

don’t leave me!”

He begged, but I remained calm. I

smiled gently, speaking slowly,“Okay, I

forgive you.”

Trent was stunned. He didn’t see that

coming.

“Really?”

He didn’t even dare to think whether

what I said was true or not. He just asked.

“Heh,” I sneered.“Isn’t this what you

want? I’ve already moved on. So, I forgive

you. You happy now? Let’s end it here.”

Just because I forgave me didn’t mean

I would come back to him. It was

impossible. A shattered mirror can’t be

mended.

I hung up, not giving him a chance to

say more. I’d told him that it wouldn’t

work even if he killed himself.

Trent realized this, so he sent me a

message.

“Honey, I’ll buy you your favorite

candies. Just forgive me, okay?”

Getting my verbal forgiveness didn’t ease Trent’s pain. I knew what he really wanted, but I wouldn’t satisfy him. I didn‘ t love him anymore; he’d broken my heart!
