"Yes, ma'am," Alec answered obediently like a schoolboy. Feeling defeated, she nagged him a bit and hung up.

He put his phone away and decided to let loose since Jenny had learned the truth. He marched into his study, turned on the lights, and started working.

Then, his phone chimed as a text arrived. He checked the text—it was from Jenny. "Rest early!"

He lifted his gaze and saw her standing by her window, staring right at him. He had no choice but to leave the study. This time, he went to rest in the bedroom instead of working. He wasn't mad at her for being controlling; he was glad she cared about him. She wouldn't have spent her time keeping a check on him otherwise.

"Well, I can't be sure. Most of the time, it wouldn't affect the baby too much, but there are exceptions. It's up to you." The CT scan involved radiation, and Jenny would prefer to leave the decision-making to Marigold.

She seemed torn but finally shook her head. "Forget about it. Can you prescribe me some meds that won't affect the baby? I'll go for a checkup after the baby's born."

"Think carefully. If your headache is getting serious, it might be a hint of something bad," Jenny advised, thinking that the mother's life was more important than the child's.

Marigold nodded with a smile and replied, "I've made the decision. I think I have a headache because I haven't been sleeping well and thinking too much after getting pregnant."
