The next day, they held the naming ceremony as scheduled.

Many people attended this joyous occasion at Bardoff International Hotel. In addition to his friends and family, Gilbert also invited all the clients who had business dealings with his company.

However, the above categories of people weren't the only ones there that day.

Gilbert was Jenny's older adoptive brother, and everyone in Bardoff City knew that. Now that Jenny had married Alec, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that Jenny and Alec were the ones calling the shots in Bardoff City. After their two families joined hands due to their marriage, there was a huge shuffling of families that were considered the Ten Elites. The Walters and the Fausts were undoubtedly at the top of the pyramid now.

Therefore, even though some people had no personal relationship with Gilbert and even looked down on his small company, out of respect for Jenny and Alec, nearly half of the affluent and influential families in Bardoff City attended the event. Those who couldn't attend still sent gifts as a sign of goodwill and respect.

Jenny arrived early. Although she was married, Gilbert was still a treasured family member to her, so she came as early as she could to see if there was anything she could help with.

Marigold and Gilbert were already standing at the entrance welcoming the guests when she arrived. However, they didn't stand together but on opposite sides, giving the impression that they were unrelated.

When she saw this, Jenny felt something was amiss, so she walked over to them and greeted them, "Hi, Gilbert. Hello, Marigold."

"Jenny, you're here. Come on in and have a seat," Marigold greeted Jenny with a smile. By now, she regarded Jenny as her own family and was genuinely delighted to see her there.

"There's no hurry. I'll take a look at the baby first," Jenny said as she walked toward the side where the stroller was. The child was sleeping soundly inside.

Almost irresistibly, Jenny reached out and gently touched the child's cute little face. She felt an amazing sense of wonder. She couldn't help but gush, "He's so adorable! He looks just like Gilbert."

"I know, right? I think so, too," Gilbert said, coming over to her side and looking at the baby in the stroller with a proud smile on his face.

Jenny was puzzled. Didn't she convince Marigold just a couple of days ago to actively pursue her happiness? What was going on now?

Marigold pursed her lips and said softly, "Although we have a child, we don't really have any significant relationship, so it's better to keep some distance to avoid misunderstandings."

Jenny didn't know what had happened between them, but from Marigold's words, she could tell she was clearly unhappy. In fact, she was probably aggrieved. Instantly, Jenny deduced that Gilbert had done something to upset her.

She looked at Gilbert quizzically, who was equally confused. He shrugged helplessly and didn't say anything.

"Whatever, I don't really care," he thought.

"Marigold, no matter what happened between you guys, it's better for you to stand together on this kind of occasion," Jenny whispered in her ear. "You don't wish for others to have even more things to talk bad about you behind your back, right?"
