Brandon wasn't angry upon being rejected by Jenny. He now felt it would be better to marry a woman like her than Jolene. "You're so popular now, Jenny." Stephanie stifled a laugh with her hand over her mouth, clearly enjoying Jenny's misfortune.

Jenny glared at her and said in annoyance, "If you laugh at me again, I'll make them come and bug you. Would you like that?"

After her short speech, the audience applauded because they thought she sounded quite sincere. However, James remained expressionless, and a hint of contempt could be seen on his face. Jolene didn't care and turned her gaze to Jenny, who was hiding in the corner.

"Jenny, I'll leave the family to you from now on. I believe you can handle it well since Father always says you're smarter than me."

Jenny groaned internally, "Why are you bringing me into this now? I don't believe your words one bit."

Jolene then thanked her parents and finished her speech.

She made it seem like she was getting married, but it was just an engagement. The wedding date was still not confirmed, so her marriage to James wasn't set in stone yet. Jolene left herself no room to back down by saying all that.
