He knew very well that the visit to the hospital was Alec's excuse to meet with Jenny.

Ashen-faced, Alec snorted. "Are you telling me that you're childhood sweethearts with Jenny?"

"That's not wrong." Evan did not deny it. "My only regret was rejecting her confession years ago."

"Jenny confessed to Evan Clarke, and he rejected her?" Alec thought. Alarmed and distressed, he might act on his temper had his rationality not held him back.
