"Yeah, you should at least give me a chance to get to know you better." Melissa nodded and looked at Alfred with anticipation.

He ignored her and turned to Jenny. "Why didn't you think of giving me a chance when you turned me down in the past?"

The two women fell into silence. The atmosphere was frigid for a moment, but Jenny was quick. "That's because I know you didn't pursue me out of interest—you just wanted to compete against Alec."

Alfred had nothing to say against her claim, and Melissa let out a relieved sigh. She'd be at a loss if Alfred was truly in love with Jenny. Jenny was better in all aspects, and more importantly, she was her boss. Thankfully, Alfred wasn't truly into Jenny.

"If you have nothing else to discuss, I'll leave." He stood up without any intent to continue the chat.

Jenny didn't stop him, worried that he might cause more embarrassment. "He'd better leave now and go back to making money for me," she thought.

Melissa didn't want him to leave, but she knew Alfred wouldn't listen to her.

Soon, Alfred left the restaurant, leaving Jenny and Melissa to finish their meals.

"I hope there's no misunderstanding. His feelings for me are not what you think. You might not know his relationship with Alec Faust…"

"I know," Melissa muttered, earning a shocked glance from Jenny. "I've looked into Alec before, but it wasn't anything major."

Jenny shook her head dismissively. "That was just a random question. I'm not too interested in his movements anyway."

"Okay. But I guess he hasn't left. I don't think Alicia invited him over just to get into a fight with you. She knew that another person was involved in Jonathan's death besides you." To Melissa, the other suspect seemed to be the real culprit. She had told Alicia about her theory, but she had no idea if Alicia was receptive to it. If Alicia had listened, she would have gone after Yvonne.

At the mention of Yvonne, Jenny could not help but feel impressed by the woman. Even after receiving Jenny's warning, Brandon Britt insisted on keeping Yvonne by his side.

Jenny wondered if Brandon ever worried that she would take revenge on the Britts because of Yvonne. She decided that she had to pressure the Britts using the power of the Walters. She refused to make life easy for Yvonne—she had yet to make her pay for putting her in danger by fanning the flames during Randy Glass' bombing incident.
