"Slow down. Don't scare the child," Lila said, seeing that Amelia was in a rush.

"Why don't I carry the child?"

Lila carried Yasmin and said gently, "Don't be scared."

She patted Yasmin on the back lightly and comforted her uneasiness.

Yasmin was too obedient. She looked at Lila before reaching out to hug her neck, not crying or throwing a tantrum.

Lila felt bad for Yasmin. Afraid that Yasmin would feel uncomfortable, she slowed her pace. Amelia glanced at them and didn't rush Lila. She teased, "Actually, you two share some similarities, especially your eyes. Why don't you adopt her as your daughter?"

Amelia said it casually, but Lila paused for a moment. Yasmin's parents had passed away. It seemed alright to adopt Yasmin.

Before Lila thought it through, she had arrived at Faith's ward. Cole was currently helping Faith get out of bed. As her legs were injured, she couldn't balance herself. Kieran quickly grabbed her wrist.

"Be careful." Kieran sounded concerned.

Amelia nudged Lila, hinting at her to say something. The people in the room had noticed them. After Faith had regained her balance, Kieran walked over to the door.

Kieran wanted to carry Yasmin, but Yasmin dodged and tightened her grasp on Lila's neck. Lila patted Yasmin on the back and said, "Don't be scared. He isn't a bad person."

Yasmin lay quietly on Lila's shoulder. She was a child after all. Her emotions were obvious—she was feeling uneasy.

Lila didn't know if a three-year-old child understood life and death, but Yasmin seemed to understand.

Kieran noticed Lila's sad gaze and caressed her hair. "Let's return to Northridge tomorrow. Cole will accompany Ms. Moore here for a few more days. They'll return after her condition stabilizes."

Lila looked at Faith. Faith's head was bandaged, and both her leg and arm were in a cast. It was obvious that her injury was severe.
