As soon as he was gone, Valarie grabbed Nyla's hand. "Nyla, the approach you suggested really worked! I pestered Brandon at his company all afternoon. He's still mad, but his attitude toward me is much better than before."

"If you keep it up, maybe you'll be able to patch things up tonight," Nyla suggested.

Valarie nodded eagerly. "You have to come with me to find Tom. I want to talk to him properly."
