As Jensen's heart tightened, his tone sounded more sympathetic and distressed. "Alice, don't cry."

Alice shook her head. It was already dark, and the cold wind was blowing.

It was a typical winter. They had been living in this kind of windy weather since summer.

She stayed silent and allowed the tears to flow down as they pleased. The way she looked now made people feel more distressed.

Her actions made Jensen's heart ache even more; he gently pulled her into his arms.

Alice did not struggle; allowing Jensen to hug her as he pleased.

He wrapped his big arms around her waist.

As Alice buried her face in his chest, she could smell the scent of tobacco, as well as the scent that belonged to only him.

"I'm sorry," he finally apologized. "It's all my fault."

He wasn't understanding and tolerant enough.

He didn't provide enough support for her.

There wasn't much he could do to help her. In fact, not only was he sad, he was even more defeated and even self-abased.

Alice was getting more powerful, and he was still just a policeman.

Jensen once thought that he would never feel inferior in this life.

However, he was wrong.

Reality slapped him in the face.

Ever since Alice took over Sunny Group, his self-abasement arose.

Alice remained silent.

"It's my fault," Jensen spoke again. "It's all my fault, Alice."

The grievance she felt could not be expressed with words.

She remained motionless and continued to allow the tears to stream down her face.

He stared at Alice.

Alice subconsciously lowered her head. Fortunately, it was nighttime, and the lights were dim so he could not see her tear-streaked face.

Alice quickly sorted her emotions and tried not to sound too emotional when she spoke.

"Jensen is here too. I spoke with him briefly," Alice said. "Then, he went up." "I know he is here,” Heinz sounded a little impatient. "He has been a spoilsport recently. Have you two quarreled?"

"No," Alice shook her head.

"Don't lie," Heinz said. "You've been squatting here for a long time. I looked for several minutes before I was sure it was you."

"What?" Alice was astonished. "So you saw Jensen then?"

"Not really. I only saw you here. What exactly happened?" Heinz sounded concerned.

Alice felt warmed by his concern. Looking at Heinz, she thought about the time when she opposed his relationship with her sister. Instead of holding a grudge, he was able to ask how she was doing even though they were currently met with such an incident.

"We' re not on speaking terms," Alice said. "Everything just doesn't feel right. I can feel that Jensen has changed ever since I took over Sunny Group but I don't have the time to give him my attention. Heinz, you too know that I am very busy. I have to re-learn everything. If you hadn't sent Alex, Lester, and some of the best people from your company to help me, I don't know how I would be able to keep up."

"You're doing a good job," Heinz said.

"I know I've just started and there is still a lot for me to learn and consolidate. I can't always rely on your help. I need to be able to stand on my own feet," Alice pursed her lips and continued. "You know how Marry is, and Grace is not my father's biological daughter, so I'm the only one left. I hope that I can manage my father's business well."

"Don't you think you're rushing into it?" Heinz said.

"I know I am, that’s why Jensen can't understand me." She did realize that the problem started when she took over Sunny Group.
