Chapter 1382 marks a crucial moment in Sharma’s Romance novel, Mr. Jones Be Gentle (Grace). This chapter blends tension, emotion, and plot progression to deliver a memorable reading experience — one that keeps readers eagerly turning the page.
For the following hour, Celeste didn't manage to read even one page of the book.
Her heart and mind were in a messy puddle. It was a difficult feeling to describe, but she just didn't feel like reading anymore. Eventually, she closed the book and left the library.
She walked home on her own. When she returned to the house, it was already 3:30 in the afternoon.
Celeste didn't eat any lunch. After seeing the leftover breakfast on the table, she finished up whatever that was left, even though the eggs, bread and milk had already turned cold.
After having all the cold food, she felt some cramps in her stomach. She went to the sofa, sat on it, and did not move for a long time.
There were no phone calls nor any messages.
It was extremely quiet in the house, so quiet that it felt empty.
Celeste's heart became even emptier.
Finally, she couldn't stand it and decided to give the butler in London a call.
Her call was picked up really quickly.
"Miss Celeste," The butler greeted enthusiastically, "Do you have any orders for me?"
"Mr. Butler, I'd like to ask, did Gary go back today?" Celeste asked.
"No," The butler was very surprised, "Master Gary hasn't been here since the day he left with you. What's wrong? Is everything okay with the both of you?"
"Oh, it's nothing," Celeste immediately denied, "I thought he would have gone back today. Hasn't he been keeping in touch with you?"
"No," The butler sounded even more surprised, "Miss Celeste, is there something wrong? If there's anything wrong, please tell me. I'm in London, and it's my responsibility to take care of all of you."
"I'm really fine. I'll contact you if anything happens," Celeste calmed down immediately, comforted the butler and hung up.
She was very shocked. If Gary hadn't called anyone in London for help, was he able to settle the matter with Janice, who was stuck at the police station?
Celeste held onto her phone tightly and looked at how she had gotten no replies from him. Her heart was heavy.
She did not like the uncomfortable feeling she had now. It was as if she was being suffocated and stuffed inside someone's pocket.
However, Gary still did not answer her phone calls, and there was no news from him either.
Celeste felt that her actions were very ridiculous, as though she was a petty woman tracking her husband's whereabouts. She immediately put down the phone, took a nice bath, and then went to the study room to read a book.
At the same time in a restaurant in London.
Gary and Janice were sitting inside. A table full of delicious food was set before them.
"Gary, I knew you were the best," The girl's voice chirped proudly, "Good thing I decided to look for you."
"Tsk!" Gary rolled his eyes. He glanced at the girl across the table and said in a tone of disgust, "It's all because of you, Janice, that I haven't had breakfast until now. Can't you just stay in the US if there is nothing important, you little brat? What are you doing here in England? Didn't I tell you not to contact me even if you are here?"
"Oh come on, I caused a little trouble for you, but is it necessary to speak to me like this? No matter what, I contacted you, and you came. Since you're here, stop complaining."
Janice was someone who was overly lively. She had a bright appearance with big eyes, an ovalshaped face, and locks of long hair falling over her shoulder. She looked very beautiful.
Meanwhile, her personality was outgoing and casual. She was even daring enough to place her hand on Gary's shoulder as she spoke.
"I'm only doing this for Lowell's sake," Gary continued speaking in an annoyed manner, "Did you actually think it was because of you?"
"It doesn't matter who you're doing this for. It's fine as long as you're here," Janice smiled, not taking it seriously at all.
Gary's eyebrows twitched as he reached out to grab his phone. After feeling around, he cursed, "D*mm it, I left my phone in the car."
"You can go and get it later."
"I'm hungry and unlucky because of you."
"Aren't we eating right now? I haven't eaten anything since last night. I immediately called the police after I realized I lost my purse. However, they're too inefficient and there was no news regarding my missing purse at all. I had no choice but to call you this noon. If I had any other ways to solve this, I wouldn't have bothered you," Janice pouted, feeling much wronged with what Gary had said to her. Her large eyes flickered as she looked at Gary, grumbling "I had no choice." "Why didn't you prepare thoroughly?" Gary couldn't be bothered to complain anymore. He asked instead, "Did you actually put all of your money in your purse?"
"Yes," Janice nodded and admitted honestly, "I didn't expect the public safety here to be this bad. If I had thought of it, I would have been more prepared."
While speaking, Janice did not forget to stuff herself with food. She was extremely hungry.
She was starving.
She ate most of the food in one go.
Gary knew what happened to her the minute he saw her in the police station. She came to England and had enjoyed a few days alone. Just when she was about to leave, she lost her purse along with her passport.
Now, she did not have money with her and also needed to reapply for a new passport at the embassy.
When Celeste realized it was a woman's voice, she was a little stunned, and her chest felt heavy and uncomfortable.
"Get out of my way," Gary's tone immediately grew impatient, "Do you hear me, Janice?" "Fine!" Janice stuck out her tongue and made a mischievous little face at Gary, "You're so petty. What's wrong with me talking to your girlfriend?"
"I'll be back soon," Gary talked to Celeste instead, "Don't worry."
"Ok," Celeste had no choice but to answer him immediately, trying hard to suppress the unpleasant feeling in her heart.
"That's all for now," Gary said.
"Alright."
Then, the call ended swiftly.
Celeste looked at her phone and suddenly felt a pang of sadness creeping in.
She questioned herself on whether she was being too petty, or if she was overthinking things.
"I'll take you to a hotel," Gary told Janice who was next to him.
"Come on, I don't have a passport. I won't be allowed to stay at a hotel," Janice shrugged regretfully, "I'm really sorry, but I'm going to have to trouble you and your girlfriend tonight."
Gary's eyebrows creased into a frown once again, feeling quite annoyed.
He picked up the phone again and called the butler.
"Oh gosh, Master Gary, I finally managed to contact you. I was close to making a police report if I still failed to contact you," The butler heaved a sigh of relief.
"What's the matter?" Gary was surprised, "Why did you call me so many times?"
"Miss Celeste called me and asked if you were back. I thought something had happened to the both of you, so I tried to reach you, but you didn't pick up. I was so worried."
"Oh, I forgot to bring my phone with me just now," Gary explained, "Don't worry, everything is fine. In the meantime, can you clean up the guest room? I'm bringing a friend over."
"Oh, sure, no problem. Is it a boy or a girl?" The butler asked again.
"A girl," Gary said, "She's about the same height and size as Maria. Prepare some clothes and slippers for her to change into"
"Okay," The nosy butler tried to dig deeper and probed, "Master Gary, is she your girlfriend?"
