"Gary, don't do this. The more you do this, the more chaotic my mind will be," Celeste said softly.

Perhaps she was too anxious and agitated. She did not know what she could say, so she bit her lips, tearing them, as she was afraid that she might burst into tears.

The more she didn't want to cry, the more she would endure it.

Those low sobbing sounds had her seem more pitiful. Her shoulders trembled, and others felt as if she was fragile and had been wronged.

Her whole body, which was wrapped in his suit, seemed shrivelled and weak as if she was desperate and was at a loss.

She seemed so aggrieved.

Gary gulped, his voice somewhat hoarse as he spoke softly, "I'm sorry, I made you cry again."

Celeste shook her head before she lowered it. Her long hair hung loose, disordered that it covered her teary face.

She seemed to have come to a realization.

She did not want to say anything else, for she had no strength left, feeling sorrowful, depressed, and in a mess.

The worst part was that she could not get over the person in front of her. It was even more impossible for her to continue to be with him.

It was a terribly awful and uncomfortable feeling. It felt so uncomfortable that she wanted to die.

She did not understand why he appeared in front of her right as she was about to let go of him. She did not even have the courage to hide anymore.

She lived with the Jones family. Everything she had was supplied by the Jones family, even her internship opportunity was provided by the Jones Estate. She could not even escape the Jones family when it turned out to be her internship.

Perhaps, she would turn out to be no one once she left the Jones family.

She couldn't blame Gary, for he was Heinz and Grace's son. She was completely powerless and felt that blaming him for the slightest bit was considered an unforgivable sin.

She was in a difficult position. Her life was hard, but it was hard in a way that no one could understand.

Lots of people were walking to and from the library. Gradually, the crowd bloomed, weaving through the streets.

However, she was still standing by the door, crying bitterly.

Gary looked at her, not knowing what he should do. He did not know how much time had passed as he stayed by her side, watching her cry in helplessness. He had his head lowered and was at a loss, not even having the courage to hold her in his arms.

Fortunately, Celeste only cried for a little while before she realized that it was an inappropriate thing to do.

She hastily wiped her tears, collected herself and took a deep breath to stop her crying.

In a few minutes, Celeste calmed herself down in no time and told Gary, "Let's go home."

It was quite rare for her not to continue to go against him or even make a scene. She turned around and left. Celeste actually got into his car obediently.

Gary buckled her seat belt while she did not refuse his help. All she did was lower her head and allowed him to do everything for her.

Gary was tense all over. He turned around a few times to look at Celeste, but she had always had her head lowered in silence.

He dared not make a sound either, so he didn't talk.

He was afraid that if he spoke, he would break the hard- earned silence the two of them had right then.

However, her little face was drenched with tears, seemingly aggrieved and weak.

When they were approaching the gates, Celeste ordered, "Could you park by the door? There's something I want to tell you."

Gary hurriedly nodded, "Sure."

He found a quiet place, parked the car, and turned around to look at Celeste.

Celeste turned to look at him as well.

Their gazes met. Celeste's eyes were still red, but they were especially bright, "Gary, tell me, did you come back to London because of me?"

Gary's heart tightened as he looked straight into her eyes. After a long while, he nodded in certainty, "It's mainly because of you. The research comes next."

Celeste took a deep breath and fell into silence.

She did not speak for a long time. All she did was stare at his handsome face.

Gary did not know what was on Celeste's mind. He was anxious and stared at her, awaiting her answer.

"Don't ask if we can be in a relationship in the future. I can only tell you that if I'm not confident enough, I will never be able to stand by your side, confidently, laughing and talking with you."

"I might be able to find confidence in myself as your friend, but as your woman? I can't. I might even look down on myself."

"So, let's break up. I don't want to make things difficult for the two of us. Can you do that for me?"

Gary looked at her with astonishment in his eyes, fixing his complicated gaze on her. After a long while, he finally spoke in a hoarse voice, "Celeste, you're opening up to me."

"That's because I think of you as a friend," She gave a self-deprecating chuckle, her eyes reddish, "I don't have anything. I'm all alone. I have everything I own right now because it's all provided by Grace, Heinz and the Jones family. Once I leave you, I'm not worth a single penny."

Gary's pupils constricted as he shook his head. His heart was in agony and pain.

He had completely ignored his woman. Ever since she was young, she had always been alone. She seemed so strong on the outside when she was actually weak and powerless deep within.

She was too uneasy.

She was working hard, but she was afraid.

"Alright, let's be friends." He nodded, his eyes full of warmth as he suppressed the emotions and heartache in his heart and promised in a low voice, "I won't put too much pressure on you anymore. I will wait until you're confident enough before I pursue you."

"Don't pursue me." She shook her head, "I'm not worth it, I'm not worth your time."

"Silly girl," He sighed, "Since I've fallen for you, why would I abandon you? I, Gary Smith, have hated abandonment ever since I was young. Let me tell you why I've never acknowledged Heinz as my father."

Celeste was stunned.

Gary continued, "It's because this is his second marriage, and my mother is his second wife. To me, he's an unfaithful man. He isn't worthy of being my father. However, I'm biologically related to him, so I have no other choice. I can only fight back and resist in silence."

Celeste was in disbelief.

That was probably the first time the both of them spoke their hearts out.

Everyone had their dark side which they could never expose. They would suppress those secrets in their hearts until they were suffocated by it.

Right then, as they said it out loud, they were both somewhat surprised.

"To me, I don't think Heinz deserves my mother. It's not because he's a divorcee, but because he has always been hiding the fact that he was married. He never told my mother until she found out."
