With that, Liam hung up the phone.
Sinclair flew into a rage the moment he hung up.
He looked at Monica and said, "Do you see that? How arrogant! He doesn't take me seriously at all."
She replied, "He's in a better position now with the Lowe family, the Jones family, the Yarbrough family, and the Smith family all backing him up. I heard that after Heinz's sister-in-law took over as head of the Smith family, their business has grown by leaps and bounds. If they all help Liam, we don't have much chance of winning."
He rubbed the space between his eyebrows and said, "50 million dollars. I'm afraid it'll really go down to 20 million dollars tomorrow."
Monica nodded. "Knowing Zachary, that's exactly what he'd do. It'll be much more difficult to deal with this tomorrow."
"I'll call Zachary later. Let Liam inform him first," he replied.
Meanwhile, Liam was discussing with Maria. "Shall we call Mr. Lowe to inform him about the situation?"
She nodded. "Call him. Let my dad know. Better yet, I'll do it."
She was about to make the call.
However, Liam took her hand and said, "I'll call."
Maria paused, then she smiled. "I'm afraid you'll feel awkward."
Liam knew that Maria was only trying to help. "I should do this on my own. If I'm afraid to talk to your dad about something as small as this, how will I be able to marry his daughter? If I'm that much of a coward, he'd probably be really disappointed."
She cheered up at that. "That's great! It's amazing that you can think like this."
"I'll call. You go ahead and eat," Liam said, picking up his phone to dial Zachary's number.
Once the call connected, Liam informed Zachary of his call with Sinclair earlier. Zachary said with a smile, "Looks like Sinclair is taking the 50 million dollars. He feels that I'll reduce the amount if he calls directly. He was so sure about taking this to court earlier, but he's changed his mind now. I guess someone else explained the situation to him."
"I think that 50 million dollars is too much," Liam replied, feeling rather pressured.
"It isn't that much. It'll cover the promotional expenses for your next project. If you ask for too little, then it shows that you're not worth much. If it's too high, then well all lose money. This price is fair to both of us," Zachary explained.
Liam was very impressed with Zachary's analysis. "Thanks, Mr. Lowe. You think of everything."
Zachary chuckled. "Don't be so stressed. Tell Maria that I've had someone book flight tickets for 10 p.m. tomorrow. I'll have someone escort her to London."
"Got it," Liam replied.
He looked over at Maria after the call ended.
Maria met his gaze, frustrated that she had to leave soon. Nevertheless, she smiled. "Okay, time to eat. My father really did think of everything."
"He did," said Liam.
They sat down and ate together.
Zachary waited for Sinclair's call, but more news arrived before the call came.
It was the video of Sinclair, Monica, and Cindy.
It had been leaked directly to the internet, and everyone was shocked.
When it happened, Monica and Sinclair were still in the office. They only found out when someone told them to check the news. As she stared at her phone screen, Monica recalled what happened in
Cindy's guest room yesterday.
F*ck. Monica thought to herself.
They had been tricked by Cindy.
She took a video of them and sent it to the press.
As for Sinclair, he flew into a rage and nearly threw his phone away.
Stunned by the news, Monica looked at Sinclair with fear in her eyes. "I thought that was being very careful, but I didn't expect her to be so cruel. Does she want to bring us down with her this time?"
"I wondered why she was willing to accept the 20 million dollars. It turns out she was trying to frame us. She took our money and tricked us as well. How cruel!"
The two of them paced the office, looking extremely worried.
Suddenly, someone rushed in. It was Sinclair's wife, Suanne.
She had six bodyguards with her, and she locked the door behind her. She looked at Monica and Sinclair with a smile. "The cat's out of the bag, huh? Sinclair, you should step down as head of Theclair Group. From now on, I'll be in charge."
Later at midnight.
Suanne organized a press conference to deal with the reporters.
She stood in front of the camera expressionlessly and said, "Dear all, Theclair Group will be under my control from today onward, and I'll be responsible for all that goes on. Mr. Stone has decided to step down from the position of president due to health reasons."
Of course, Suanne refused to take any questions from the reporters after her announcement. Neither did she expose Sinclair.
Everyone was thrown into a frenzy by her decision.
Meanwhile, at the Jones family home.
Gary was surprised when he saw the news.
Celeste had also heard of it, and she asked, "Who released the video?"
Gary shook his head. "I'm not too sure about this either. It's strange. Why would Sinclair be so chummy with Cindy's manager?"
"Cindy's with her manager's husband, so Monica being with Sinclair is nothing too surprising, no? It's pretty normal," Celeste replied softly.
He turned his head and looked at her as he smiled. "This is normal?"
"If not? You think it's not okay?" she asked.
"I find it weird. Honestly, I kinda wanna know why," he replied.
Celeste had a different opinion from Gary. As she watched Sinclair and Monica's video, she remarked, "This old man is disgusting. I hate him."
Gary teased, "You seem to loathe this Sinclair very much."
"You're right. I do hate him," Celeste admitted plainly.
"Why is that?" he asked.
"I don't know. Maybe I don't like his face, or maybe I'm biased." Celeste smiled sheepishly.
Gary reached out to stroke her hair. "Then, we should leave tomorrow night. Uncle Lowe wants us to take Maria with us, and he arranged for bodyguards to escort us." "Oh, okay," Celeste replied, nodding.
