Maria was upset to see Leah and Ernest ending things like this.

She had always thought that they were perfect for each other.

On top of that, she was close to Leah too. If things between Leah and Ernest were really ending, it would only make things awkward for her and Leah too.

Therefore, with all the reasons combined, Maria believed that they should stay together.

It was the perfect situation for everyone involved.

With a neutral expression, Ernest swept a glance at Maria and said, "Spring is coming up. Why don't you start packing to celebrate the holidays back at home?"

His tone was a little cold, but he was still caring for her.

Maria immediately asked, "What about you? Ernest, are you going back with me?"

"I'm not going back," Ernest's tone was calm, as if he had already made up his mind. "I'll be spending my spring break in London."

"What are you planning to do in London? It's not fun to be here all alone. Our parents, siblings, relatives including the baby in Grace's belly are all at home. Shouldn't you come home? Also, we won't know when will be our last time seeing William. Why don't you come home?"

Maria was definitely saying this out of her own self-interest.

She was thinking of helping to patch things up between Ernest and Leah during their stay. This was the only chance.

If Ernest was to stay behind in London, Maria would lose her chance.

Maria was naturally a little anxious about this.

"I'm not going back. They wouldn't mind my absence either. Also, I'm busy with my own stuff here in London." Ernest said.

"Why are you so cold-hearted?" Maria got a little worked up upon hearing this. "Do you have to wear your poker face all the time over a break up? You're the one to be blamed for this. Leah did nothing wrong. Do you have to avoid going back home just because you don't want to run into Leah?"

Hearing this, Ernest's gaze dimmed. He swept a sharp glance at Maria and said word by word, "What did you say?"

"I said that you're hiding from Leah." Maria wasn't backing down either.

Ernest's face fell.

"Just admit it already," Maria sneered, "Leah doesn't even want you anymore, and she's already planning to start dating again. Ernest, ask yourself this question. Do you want Leah? If not, will you be okay with Leah seeing someone else?"

Hearing this, Ernest's expression tensed. Maria took that in instantly. He still had feelings for Leah.

It was much easier if that was the case. Maria smiled.

"I can tell that you still like Leah." Maria said.

Ernest didn't say anything.

Maria continued, "You only broke up over some misunderstandings. You still get a chance at fixing this. Ernest, just go back and have a talk with Leah. You might be able to solve things by talking them out."

"If you don't, the misunderstanding will only increase in time, and you won't be able to fix this anymore."

In an instant, Maria's eyes suddenly lit up.

She looked at Ernest excitedly and said, "Ernest, you're finally being honest after all these years. That's the spirit! I can now help you with this."

Ernest shook his head and looked into Maria's eyes. He said softly, "Maria, this is something I have to do myself."

There were some things that no one else could help him with but himself.

"I can put in a good word for you, or even help you create an opportunity to talk to her," Maria said, "Leah is mad at you for hurting her. Think of the things you did. How would she feel to hear that you like Celeste?"

Ernest pursed his lips.

"Women are sensitive, especially in their relationships. We can be generous in a lot of things except our relationships. Our possessiveness is no less than a man's."

Ernest took a while to reply, "I know that now."

"It's pretty scary, isn't it?" Maria asked.

Ernest nodded again and said, "I looked through the surveillance footage and I saw you hearing what Liam said. Why is it that you can overcome all of these, but Leah couldn't?"

This was what Ernest was struggling the most with for the past month. Now that they were left alone, he finally got the chance to ask her about

this.

Maria startled a little upon recalling that scene. She then smiled and said, "It's not like I wasn't bothered at all. My heart still aches for it every day. I already knew about this, and yet there wasn't anything I could do. I can't help that I love him more than he does."
