Hogan's mother was startled with a darkened expression. She was very livid and embarrassed. Perhaps no one in her life had ever dared to describe her in that way.
When she heard what he said, she couldn't maintain her composure. However, Ernest emanated an air of elegance and nobility with no anger shown at all, which made Hogan's mother confused as she looked at him in a daze.
"Where... where did you come from?" She still couldn't stand being despised and disregarded by him, hence she couldn't help questioning him.
"Humph, you'd better calm yourself down and stop acting as if you know everything, so that you won't bring more unnecessary troubles upon yourself and your son." Ernest reminded her, throwing her an unconcerned look.
As Hogan had been mentioned, Keira's heart ached again instantly. Her only son was taken away by the police and placed in prison custody. He was going to be investigated. As 24 hours had passed then, it had been said that he would be handed over to the relevant department, and that they would place a case on file to investigate him.
If that was to happen, what would happen to her son in the future?
His future would be completely destroyed.
Sweeping her eyes over Leah, Keira squinted and met Leah's eyes. "Leah, you think you're all that, huh?"
Leah furrowed her brows. She had heard everything Keira said to Rowane earlier. Thus, she had no good impression of Keira at all.
In the past, she respected Keira as an elder, as she was obliged to do so as someone younger. However, she felt that there was no need for that anymore then.
Nevertheless, she still maintained her basic politeness.
She glanced at Keira and said indifferently, "Mrs. Wells, I don't know why you say that, but there is no need for us to talk in this way now. To be honest, I've I heard all the words you used to insult Rowane and I just now. I'm very puzzled. What gave you such an unsound idea? It's no wonder Hogan was sent to the police station."
"Humph, you feel such pride finding yourself a man, don't you? I think you have even forgotten your own place." Keira darted a glance at Leah with a fake smile before saying sarcastically, "Your tactic of relying on men is exactly the same as your stepmother's. Although you sisters don't share the same mother, you both did inherit her wickedness without fail."
Her words were very unpleasant to the ears.
Both Leah and Rowane felt uncomfortable, knitting their brows.
Rowane could not help but to retort, "You can comment on me as you wish, but what do this matter has to do with my sister? It's normal for her to be dating, but you talk as if it's wrong of her to do so. That's rude of you."
Seeing that Rowane was defending her, Leah immediately stretched out her hand to stop her, gesturing that Rowane didn't have to do that.
Keira's words also caused Ernest's hackles to rise. He just felt that she was really ill-mannered.
Noticing how united they were, in an ironic tone, Keira continued to say, "Now, you're acting like a pair of close sisters in front of me. I'm sure you were not like this before."
"Mrs. Wells, people change as time passes. No matter how distant my sister and I are, we share the same blood, and it's none of your business. We are also not related to you at all. If you're really so free, I advise you not to say these meaningless words here. You'd better reflect on the way you've been educating Hogan and find out why he's changed so much over just a few years. It's just like he has turned into another person and totally lost his sense of right and wrong, becoming self-willed and obstinate."
"He is great. It's you sisters who have gone too far." Keira scowled at Leah and Rowane in anger. "The two of you seduced my son. You guys are really adept at seducing men, especially you, Leah. You've had a special relationship with my son, yet you get yourself another boyfriend."
As Keira spoke, she cast a look at Ernest. She was intentionally suggesting to Ernest that Leah was a two-timer with despicable personality.
Ernest twitched his lower lip contemptuously, and his eyes were full of disgust.
He did not take Keira's slander seriously at all.
It was because he knew what kind of person Leah was.
Rowane was worried that Ernest would misunderstand, so she couldn't help but to shout at Keria, "What are you talking about? What special relationship was there? Throughout the past few years, my sister and Hogan had nothing to do with each other. They seldom met. It wasn't until Hogan knew that my sister had a boyfriend that he suddenly came to harass her. They barely saw each other throughout the year."
Rowane wanted to make it clear before Ernest and clarify for Leah, in case he misunderstood.
Leah shook her head at Rowane, but Rowane still cast a perturbed look at Ernest.
Keira's face froze. Glowering at Leah, she retorted impatiently, "You're really cruel. Sexual assault? Rowane deliberately seduced my son, and now you want to defame him. Are you kidding me?"
"Anyway, we'll see you in court. Stop harassing Rowane, or you will be punished by the law too."
"What? You're threatening me. I'm going to sue you for threatening me. Leah, don't think that you can scare me off. Even if you've found yourself a resourceful boyfriend, we Wells family will not be afraid of you," Keira said in a deep voice.
Ernest sneered, "No one wants you to be afraid, and you don't have to be. Just get lost quickly. Otherwise, we'll call the police."
"How dare you! I didn't do anything. What rights do you all have to call the police?" Keira was certain that she didn't do anything, hence in her mind, she shouldn't be treated like that.
Ernest sneered, "You came to harass Rowane. You came to the house of this girl who was hurt by your son and openly subjected her to verbal abuse, aren't these enough?"
Keira was astounded.
Concurrently, there was a knock on the door.
Leah ran to open the door.
As the door was opened, two officers in police uniforms stood by the door and looked at them, asking, "What happened? Miss Rowane, did someone come to make trouble?"
Their eyes landed on Rowane.
Rowane ran over in two ticks and said to them, "Officers, it's Hogan's mother. She came to harass me."
Seeing the police officers, Keira was stupefied, and she was not as arrogant as before. She said to the police officers, "Officers, I just came to ask her why she treated my son in that way, despite being his girlfriend. How could she treat him like that? It wasn't like what she said. Harassment? This is such an insult to me."
"Please leave." The police officers said to Keira in a serious tone, "Visiting a property against the owner's will is considered a harassment, and you'll be punished for it following the building management's guidelines. Considering that this is your first violation, we can let you off. However, if it happens again, you will be detained right away."
