Grace received a phone call from her sister, Alice, early in the morning. Alice sounded a little anxious over the phone as she immediately asked Grace, "Grace, have you seen the news today?"
"What news?" Grace asked while she was still in a daze.
She was pregnant, and a little tired. As she was also an older pregnant woman, she was naturally more fatigue than others.
She was supposed to still be asleep at that hour.
Since Alice called her so early in the morning, it meant that there had to be something urgent.
"Haven't you seen the news?" Alice had always thought of Grace as a person who had gone through a lot and would never be beat down, so she would generally not be affected by such a news.
So, she did not think too much when she made the phone call.
However, Jensen, who was behind her, whispered, "Alice, how dare you call your sister so rashly? Have you forgotten that she is an older pregnant
lady?"
Alice was shocked, she looked at her husband and said in a low voice, "It's okay. My sister isn't so fragile. She has gone through a lot. How could she not stand such a little thing?"
Jensen was feeling very helpless. "She is not young anymore."
"Are you saying that you are old too?" Alice glanced at her husband and knew that Jensen was worried about many things. Over the years, he had become a leader, and was responsible for many things on his own. There were lots of aspects of worry and consideration he had put in place.
However, Alice still thought that her sister and herself were both people who had experienced many things, so they would not be so easily defeated by something minor.
She was not being reckless, nor was she being rash. She just did not think that it was anything significant.
She only hoped to face the matter.
Jenson was stunned, and he did not know how to respond to his wife's words. He could only look at her helplessly and sigh.
"Then, do as you please." "Of course I will." Alice did not stand on ceremony and she was very confident.
Throughout those years, she had practiced and gained a lot of self-confidence in the business field.
She had gotten a lot more confident then than before.
It was still early in the morning. Upon being asked on whether she had read the news or not, as well as hearing what sounded like Alice and Jensen's squabbles through the phone, Grace asked in wonder, "Can you two stop arguing? I am still sleepy. Just tell me what it is. What's there to be so shocked about?"
"Grace, I knew you would respond this way. You wouldn't think much of this either." Alice stared at her husband with arrogance in her gaze.
Jensen felt even more helpless. He could only look at her dotingly and smile.
Over the years, he had gotten more and more outstanding and calm at work.
However, whenever he was facing his wife, he would always love her and spoil her. He would never overly control or lecture her.
Of course, Alice knew that she should not go too far either.
They knew how to respect each other, and they lived a very happy life.
"Hurry up and tell me, what news is it?" Grace was still waiting for a reply, but Alice had stopped talking. "I want to go back to sleep after you tell me."
"I don't know who's so evil-hearted, but someone said a lot of bad things about you and Celeste. It was even said that it's our relative," Alice finally told Grace.
"Someone said something about Celeste and I?" Grace sniggered, "What a joke, why Celeste and I? What's there to expose between Celeste and I?"
"Anyway, it doesn't sound good at all," Alice tried to prepare her for it. "It would be best for you to stay calm when you read it. Even though I know that you have gone through a lot and won't be shocked by such a small incident, it is not a virtue story. Sometimes, these horrible news will still affect your mood."
"Is that so? Then I won't look at it now." Grace was not anxious at all. "I will take a look at it when I wake up, I am still feeling very sleepy."
"Grace, there's Celeste too. This time, both you and Celeste were attacked." Alice was amused by Grace's indifference. "You should think it through. You may have gone through a lot, but Celeste hasn't. She is still a child."
Only then did Grace snap to her senses and blinked. "Celeste? Then I should read it." "Okay, then let's discuss about it after you have read it. Let's see which troublemaker is the one who published the news. They said that a relative of yours was the one who provided the scandalous information. It said that you two are both heartless monsters, and that the two of you are both equally ruthless even when it comes to your own family members."
Grace took a deep breath. Just as Alice thought that Grace's mood was affected, Grace asked, "Are they praising us?"
"Grace, I'm totally all right with it if you want to think that way," Alice laughed while she said.
Could it be that the two of them have joined hands? Or, did only one of them participate in it?
Grace was not sure. She only knew that she needed to investigate the matter.
It was fine for them to write about her, however, if they wrote about Celeste, it meant that they were talking bad things about the next generation of the Jones family. She would not let that slide so easily.
Grace held her cell phone as she wondered how she was going to deal with them.
When Heinz entered the room, he saw Grace holding her phone in a daze. He did not know what was on her mind, and his heart skipped a beat. He had a hunch that Grace had read the news.
"You're awake." Heinz came in and closed the door. When he reached Grace's side, he sat down and looked at her with worry in his eyes.
The moment Grace saw him, she knew that he was worried about her.
She could not help but to smile, and spoke immediately, "You know about the news too, don't you?"
Heinz was stunned. It seemed that Grace really knew about it already, so he nodded. "Do you know about it too?"
"I just read it," Grace said, "Where is Celeste? Does she know about it?"
Heinz nodded and said, "She knows. She is worried that you will be angry after reading the news, and she is also worried that it will affect your baby, so she asked me to come check on you."
"Pfft!" Grace laughed instead. "That's great, she is indeed Gary's girlfriend. She is not afraid or worried. When this sort of thing happens, the first thing she actually thought of was someone else. Celeste is a kind girl."
"Yes, she is indeed kind," Heinz looked at his wife apologetically. "When Gary mentioned about the matter, I did not pay any attention to him. He said that he saw some reporters taking photos of them at the airport. I told him to deal with it himself as I thought that it's just a small matter. Who knew that the media would write about you and Celeste."
"Do you know who did it?" Grace did not want to waste their time. She asked directly, "Is it Simon or Marry?"
"Marry has been well- behaved since she was released from prison. Alice also gave her the shares she was supposed to have, and she supported her. Simon hasn't met her ever since he got out of prison."
"Have they never met?" Grace was a little surprised and looked at Heinz. "Does that mean this has nothing to do with them?"
Heinz shook his head. "I am still looking into this matter."
