After sending Maria off, Celeste gently leaned against the door and closed her eyes, feeling exhausted.
She was a little tired, and she did not know how to deal with the matters. She felt like she was in such a mess and she even felt physically unwell.
Celeste did not want to let her imagination run wild, so she quickly found a book and immersed herself in it.
When Maria returned to her room, Liam asked her, "Where did you go just now?"
"I went to see how Celeste was doing," Maria said, "Gary left so suddenly, so I was worried that Celeste won't feel comfortable staying here on her own."
"How is she? Is she all right?" Liam casually asked.
Maria shrugged and shook her head. "It seemed like she cried. Her eyes were red. Celeste really can't be apart from Gary at all."
"Isn't that a good thing? At least, it proves that their relationship is very good," Liam said with a smile. "What should we be worried about?"
"That's right, I was a little worried at first, but now that I have seen how in love Celeste was with Gary, I think their relationship is already very stable. I don't think there is anything we should be worried about anymore."
Liam nodded, he seemed to have thought of something and asked, "It just feels weird. According to Gary's character, he would bring Celeste along even if he was only going to Boston just for two days. However, this time, he actually asked Celeste to stay while he went alone. It feels a little weird."
Maria did not find it strange at first. However, after hearing what Liam said, she suddenly thought that it was strange too.
"If you didn't say that, I would not have thought of it too. It does sound a little strange. Why did he go to Boston alone? Wouldn't it be better to bring Celeste along? Besides, they would have things to talk about along the journey, and they wouldn't even be separated. They could still have fun no matter where they are at."
Liam stared at Maria. The two of them exchanged looks, and they realized that something was wrong.
Soon, they went downstairs and met with Leah
and Ernest.
Maria could not help but to ask Ernest directly, "Ernest, this time, Gary went to Boston all by himself. He didn't even bring Celeste with him. What do you think about that?"
Ernest raised his eyebrows and said, "I don't have any opinions about that. Is there something wrong?"
At first, Ernest didn't feel that there was anything wrong. However, when he heard Maria's question, a glimmer of light seemed to have flashed across his eyes.
Leah also looked at Maria with suspicion. "What's going on?"
"It just feels a little strange. At first, they were here for vacation. Being in the honeymoon period, they are going places for holidays. Shouldn't they want to stay by each other's side day and night? Why did he suddenly leave for Boston alone and left Celeste here?" Maria thought that something was wrong too after she heard Liam's words.
Ernest looked towards Liam again. The two of them exchanged looks.
Liam nodded, he continued where Maria left off, "Maria was worried about Celeste just now, so she went to have a look at her. However, she said that Celeste seemed to have cried. We think that something might be wrong, so we came here to ask you two to see if we can help them out."
"Perhaps you guys are thinking too much?" Ernest agreed that it was a little strange for Gary to not bring Celeste to the United States. However, from the way they got along the previous night, it did not look like they had a quarrel.
Soon, the call was connected.
Ernest first greeted Lowell courteously, then he changed the subject and asked, "Were you the one who called and made Gary go back to Boston?"
Lowell was stunned for a while before he replied in a calm voice, "Yes, something happened over here. We need Gary to come over and handle it personally."
"Uncle Lowell, it's weird that you said Gary has to deal with it in person. I don't think there's a need for anything. Is there anything that you can't handle it yourself? Besides, it's the holidays now." Ernest immediately raised his questions without hesitation.
Lowell paused for a while and said, "It's about his studies. This is something that I can't help him with. We need him to come back and deal with this."
"Isn't he on a holiday? Didn't Gary arrange in advance to go back after the holidays?" Ernest asked again.
"No," Lowell said firmly, "Your brother has been too engrossed in his relationship, and he has completely forgotten about his studies."
"Really? I remember that Gary has very high IQ. He should be able to coordinate everything well and arrange everything properly. You are saying it as if Gary is a fool." Ernest was suspicious again.
"At first, your brother was very smart, but a man in love is a fool. Haven't you ever heard of that?"
Ernest smiled and said, "Uncle Lowell, Gary didn't bring Celeste along to Boston this time. Do you think it's appropriate?"
"Ernest, why do you care so much about them? I think it's okay for him to come back without Celeste for just a few days. What's more, Celeste is not in good health. It would be too tiring for her to have to travel back and forth like this," Lowell said calmly. That made Ernest feel that he had really thought too much.
