Since it was the same video as the one he had seen previously, there might not be a lot of videos from the looks of it.
Gary put the phone down and quietly looked out the window. There was a cold breeze blowing and the waves were splashing.
He withdrew his gaze and looked in Celeste's direction.
At that moment, Celeste was sound asleep. She seemed to be extremely tired, and Gary's gaze couldn't help but soften.
He sent a message to Yandrea, put down the phone, and lay back down by Celeste's side. He propped himself up with his elbow and looked at Celeste, his gaze locked.
His gaze was completely fixated on Celeste's eyes. He didn't know how much time had passed as he just looked at Celeste like that. He didn't sleep, but just continued to look at Celeste.
As if she felt that something was different, Celeste suddenly woke up from her sleep.
The moment she opened her eyes, she was met with Gary's deep gaze.
His deep dark eyes were a slightly bloodshot.
She was stunned as she spoke with much endearment, "Did you not rest? Your eyes are bloodshot. Why don't you sleep?"
Gary lay lazily on the bed as a faint smile came upon his lips, he then said, "I was nervously waiting for your punishment."
Celeste was shocked and she looked at Gary, puzzled.
Of course, she was quick- witted and almost immediately, she seemed to have understood something and asked, "Did you pick up the call? Was it bad news?"
Gary couldn't help but to sigh. Celeste was indeed smart. With one sentence, she could already guess it.
He gave a wry smile and nodded. He wasn't quick to speak as he was not sure if Celeste could stay calm after watching the video.
He was a little nervous. The longer he didn't speak, the more wary Celeste's heart became.
"It seems like something must have happened. Janice kept on calling. So, you must have contacted her after I fell asleep, right? If that was it, is there still anything you can't tell me?" Celeste softly said.
Gary nodded. "Indeed, it does seem that I can tell you everything."
As he spoke, Gary then passed the phones to Celeste, including his and Celeste's.
As he handed it over, he added, "I didn't delete a single message. I initially wanted to, but I was afraid you would misunderstand, so I kept everything. Take a look."
Celeste hesitated while taking over the phone. She looked down and started reading the message. As she finished reading through all the messages, she was quiet.
She sat on the bed with her head slightly lowered. Her long hair covered her face, and no one could see her expression at the moment.
Also, exactly because of that, Gary felt a sense of uneasiness.
Celeste watched the video and saw how Janice was sitting on top of Gary.
The movement of her moving up and down, and the both of them weren't even wearing any clothes. There was nothing between them, and if it was said that nothing had happened between them, even Celeste dared not think about its possibility.
How could nothing have happened?
If it was acting, could every single movement be
so realistic?
It would be way too real, if it was just an act.
However, Gary was rather open, and even kept the video for her to see.
She didn't know what to think about it. She only felt very uncomfortable upon seeing such a scene. Her whole body tensed up and her heart made her feel as if she was suffocating.
"Aren't you going to give me an explanation?" Celeste finally spoke up. Her tone was slow and her voice was hushed, which made him feel uneasy.
Gary's entire body stiffened, his gaze on Celeste's tensed up. He still rather calmly said, "I'm waiting for your punishment."
"Aren't you going to explain whether or not you did it?" Celeste spoke again, her tone still soft and casual.
A sharp pain flashed across Gary's cool face. Celeste still doubted him. After watching the video, Celeste was still suspicious about whether or not he really did it with Janice.
His face instantly turned pale, all the blood drained from it.
At that moment, Celeste gently raised her eyes and looked at Gary. Her apathetic eyes on her emotionless face then looked like she was in great despair and sorrow.
She looked at Gary with her pair of calm and fixed eyes, and there was a trace of hopelessness in them.
"I think that I didn't do anything," Gary still said.
Even if the video was the way it was, Gary still thought that nothing had happened between him and Janice.
"At least, your body and hers were in contact, right?" Celeste lightly said, "It's just a matter of whether there was penetration or not, right?"
Upon hearing that, Gary's eyes narrowed abruptly, and a sharp pain was emerging from his gaze.
She spoke in such a way that it was straightforward, simple yet cruel.
Gary understood in his heart that Celeste wouldn't say such a thing unless she was at her limit.
Gary's hand was tightly clenched into a fist. He had a gloomy expression, and his eyes were dim.
He said softly, "You don't believe me, do you?"
"Okay, I'll follow your decision."
Half an hour later, they returned to Northern City.
Upon arriving at Northern City, Gary asked if Celeste wanted to return home first, or to head to the villa in the mountain. Celeste decided upon the mountain villa.
In fact, she did not have the confidence to put on a good front before Aunt Smith and Uncle Jones and not show any suspicion. She needed to readjust her own emotions first, so going back to the mountain villa was the best option.
In the mountain villa, she could be quiet for a moment.
Gary didn't object either, and completely followed Celeste's wish. He brought her back to the mountain villa.
When they arrived, Ernest and Leah were in the villa.
Upon seeing Celeste and Gary's return, Leah and Ernest were both very surprised. Ernest asked, "That was fast. We thought you guys would probably stay at the sea for a week. Why have you guys returned after just a few days?"
"Mm." Gary acknowledged faintly. Without even looking at Ernest and Leah, he left after only saying, "I'll be heading up to sleep, you guys can chat first."
Celeste felt a little awkward. She didn't expect Gary to be so cold and just go upstairs.
She smiled at Leah and Ernest and said, "The sea breeze was too strong, and there wasn't much scenery in the winter, so we came back."
"That's true, being at the sea during winter is just cold, and there's nothing else about it. Unlike in the summer, where you could look at the seascape on the deck," Leah said, "Celeste, why do you seem so much thinner?"
Leah's words immediately attracted Ernest's attention and he looked at Celeste and nodded, "Yeah, Leah is right, you do seem thinner."
Celeste looked rather cut out, her face as small as a palm. Looking at her, it did seem like she was a lot thinner.
"I don't think so." Celeste shook her head and awkwardly pursed her lips. She absent-mindedly thought of a reason and said, "If I look thinner, it's probably because I'm not used to the climate."
Leah could sense that Celeste's expression was rather stiff, it seemed like something had happened.
Leah smiled and said, "Celeste, you guys are probably tired after the trip. Gary already went up to rest, you should head on up too. Rest for a while, and after that, we could have dinner together."
"All right, I'll head up too." Celeste nodded her head.
Soon, Celeste went upstairs.
Unexpectedly, just half an hour after they returned, Lowell arrived at the mountain villa.
As Celeste was in the same room as Gary, it was a little awkward, so she came down. Unexpectedly, she bumped into Lowell as she got into the living room.
"Uncle Lowell." Celeste was stunned for a second, but she still greeted him.
Upon seeing Celeste, Lowell's expression turned complicated. His eyes were filled with deep remorse.
